I very much doubt that this LP was released in 1955; for Presley tracks to be on HMV, they must have been sourced from RCA, who didn't sign him until 21st November of that year, and issued their first Presley singles (Sun reissues) in the USA in December. Sounds to me like the labels probably say "Recording first published 1955" (which they were), and that has been interpreted as the LP being released in 1955, an exceedingly common mistake; 1956 is much more likely.
Revisiting this because I didn't think to check the release dates of all the other tracks on the LP (copy at Discogs), and going by the entries on this site, all were released as US RCA Victor singles in November or December 1955, with only Perry Como's "All At Once You Love Her" being earlier (October), so this can't have been released before Sun sold Elvis' contract to RCA. A couple of tracks were UK HMV singles in early '56, and I doubt that NZ would have got those tracks before UK did, although I suppose there's an outside chance this could have been a late December '55 release in NZ depending on when in December the later tracks were released, and how quickly they were sent to NZ, but given the typical delays between US/UK and Australian releases that I encountered when moving here in 1971, I really can't imagine that things would have been better across the Tasman 15-16 years earlier.

For some strange reason New Zealand did get some overseas releases before Australia. I doubt this HMV album ever got released in Australia as we had RCA here at the time while New Zealand's RCA was still under contract with HMV as was in the UK.
The E-Z Country Programming series of LP's seems to have originated with RCA in the States, and they all seem to be promos: Discogs has US copies of Vols 1 & 3, but only the NZ copy of Vol. 2, which has the same pair of Presley tracks as Vol. 1! I imagine that the liner notes on Vol 2 were at least changed significantly to refer to HMV and New Zealand instead of RCA and USA, if not completely replaced.
Overseas releases in NZ before Australia? Hadn't heard of that before, but I suppose it was possible if the ship carrying the masters (and I think it's more likely to have been ship rather than plane) stopped off in Wellington (where HMV was) and/or Auckland before hitting Oz.
