I think that should become the norm from now on. I never liked that Dewey Decimal thing.

At least they didn't order them by colour! That has happened.

This is a relevant place to mention that a recent Covid lockdown-inspired online "tweet-a-long" to the 2014 Doctor Who episode "Listen" by Steven Moffat included Moffat tweeting a script page from a deleted scene in which the Peter Capaldi version of the Doctor confessed to having organized a library based on the first letter of the 50th word of the 50th page of each book! You can read the scene here.

I usually order my LPs in height order. I have the Workhorse Records sleeves (hand made with oversized cardboard) on the left and the rest on the right...

Oh yes, the oversize card sleeves from retailers in the 78 collection are a pain.
Given that Penguin and the Like did Colour Themes for books that is not so silly (And the Early RCA disc colours). I hate it when a Book series does the spines the wrong way round (Bradford Barton for Railway Photo Books)

They're the right way round if you put them the right way round

and why are the booklets in those CD jewelcases always the wrong way round so you can't get them out without ripping or creasing them? I make sure I put them back the right way round

I do it by first initial. Is there a difference between having all the Smiths together vs having all of the Johns together? Not at my house.

Pull them out stapled side wiggling through the tabs, you may have to bend the case cover a bit more than you might like to

Mmmmmm....John Smiths.

(Got a couple in the fridge for later... yum!)

I'm now operating an In tray / Out tray system for my books...

(Which is another way of saying I have two piles of books)

Read, and: To be read.

... I'm getting rid of all the books (novels / fiction) I've read once, but won't read again unless it has enduring value - reference and such.

I even have my old GCSE maths, and physics text books, which I'm going to read through in order to correct the huge holes in my woeful education.
