I was under the impression that we should be adding title screens for movies, but it seems the latest batch are a mix of posters, video covers, TV Guide ads, etc. Is there a standard by which we are using or does it matter?

We prefer screen grabs and they will always be chosen as the first image / thumbnail

They can be taken from either the opening of the film OR the trailer (These images are often slightly different - just choose the best one)

We don't really want VHS/DVD covers or posters as they can be added to other worlds instead.

TV guide ADs etc. are interesting to add but shouldn't be the main image if possible

And it's worth repeating we don't want images just 'sourced' from a google image search - that leads to copyright issues and harms our google search ranking.

I was not aware of adding screen grabs instead of posters & TV guide ads to films; I'm new to this and still learning about it. I will keep this in mind in the future.

Just to add my 2 cents, my understanding is the same rules apply to the TV worlds; I have added many title screens taken from screen captures, but occasionally you'll find ads or publicity photos used instead. I've always been concerned as to whether such images are dicey, copyright-wise, even though in theory it's no different than scanning a book cover.

Now someone is just adding the background name from posters using image editing softwares to cut poster so displays only name of film.

Guessing these are not allowed?

They are 'allowed' as the very last option but we'd much prefer to see screengrabs

I'd ideally like those replaced by actual screengrabs and then 'hidden'

I was replacing those "logos" with title screens for a time, but the number of incoming became so great (and still increasing!) that it became a time-consuming burden. If they ever come to a halt, I may go back and attempt replacements, but even in the last 24 hours there's been more than 20 logos plugged in, so I just look away.
