The really big names have record deals with major labels and we can buy their product on physical media and keep it in perpetuity, but so many new artists release wonderful music only as downloads from YouTube or Spotify without any credits, like who wrote it or who are the session musicians, so you end up recording it as an mp3 on your PC.

Two of my favourites from 2022 are:
Nati Dreddd & Cullen Vance ft. Jonny Stewart - My Mother Told Me
Before You Say Goodbye - Katey Brooks

I would really like to buy these on CDs

Why don't you burn them onto CD's for your collection?

That is what I do for material that is only available as a download.

The only problem with that is that normal, ordinary CD-r discs are unreliable so you need to invest in Archival Quality CD-r of which this is an extreme example. There are cheaper varieties Available although this still doesn't get around the problem of no artwork. Some sites will offer the artwork as a download on PDF but not always. Slowly but surely the whole industry is switching to download or streaming and all it takes is for people to "Not" buy this product and start hitting their profit margins so we can all start to get the Physical Product again. This is starting to hit the Surround Sound market now which started with The Beatles album Revolver only getting an Atmos Surround release via streaming. It's the first one I haven't bought and have absolutely no intentions of paying monthly streaming fees to get it.

It's quicker and eaiser and cheaper to stream or download now. Even all My Promo pools and film Pools have dropped sending CD's and DVD's as of December 2022.

It is simpler for the industry to control distribution of product, which it lost to some extent from the early 1970s with the advent of cassette recorders for home use. Do you want to record music to CD-R, flash drive or an Ipod? It's OK now, provided you first pay to download from an industry-approved web site.

That doesnt really make sense - once you have a digital file copied to a PC you can duplicate it however many times you want? Much worse than the "alledged home taping crisis (manufactured by the record companies). For some modern genres vinyl is completely irrelevent as their consumers are only using phones to listen to music? Nowadays in trendy nightclubs they quite often dont use CD's or vinyl as its all digital.

A lot of new artists do frequently do press vinyl but at the moment it is prohibitedly expensive for young bands with long delays caused by the major labels hogging the few pressing plants available by repressing the same old crap over and over. The industry has never been able to think long term, one day they will realise that they will never be able to shift warehouses full of brand new Sinatra/ phil collins et al records as there is no demand.
