Head to this page linked to whenever you index a book where you're asked to look up the DDC classification number to see a new message: https://classify.oclc.org/classify2/. Apparently as of January the service is only going to be open for people who subscribe to WorldCat and "Classify" is being discontinued.
No one seems too interested in this topic, but as of today (Feb 1), the OCLC lookup is no longer available (dead link). Is this aspect of the World being abandoned now or is there another online source for looking these up?
There's not much we can do here. They've discontinued the free lookup system so I've removed the link. I've kept the explanation in the guide that Class Numbers are a free open-source alternative to Dewey Decimal whilst being 100% compatible with it.

There is the option to download the entire Class Numbers catalogue so I signed up and downloaded it but there's nothing in it until you start jumping through more hoops. Has anyone managed to do this yet?
