I loved this show when I was a small kid in the 1960s.
They did reruns around 1994 and I tuned in for the first episode and could not believe how utterly crap it was - a cardboard set with fake snow blowing all around and actors jumping in and out like a pantomime, sample here:

Regarding playing DVDs on your PC - the region codes are checked if you use Microsoft's Media Player and some other software, Mac too. But, there are some download DVD-player applications which do not check region codes, however some of these 'freebies' come with payloads, so if you install that software you may find you suddenly have ad-pushers, internet toolbars, site-tracking, etc loaded onto your computer too.

Terrible from start to finish. The acting is awful, the screenplays plain abysmal and the filming is below par.
The only good thing being the theme tune.

I said what I said because I have a DVD rewrite drive on my computer that "burns" as well as plays DVD's(the smoke alarm keeps triggering because of all the "burning" ha-ha). It is capable of playing DVD's from any region because it ignores the region coding. There's also the fact that 23Skidoo is using an Apple Mac computer while mine is Windows 7. His did not have an inbuilt DVD drive, mine does.

@Neil Forbes. I would agree with 23skidoo. My DVD drives do the same thing here ie, allow 5 changes before locking. I solved the problem though by mounting a second drive and locking one to R1 and another to R2. I later added a Blu-Ray drive and really didn't want to buy another one so I bought a piece of software from SlySoft called AnyDVD HD. This gives a software solution to playing R1 & R2 in any drive and doesn't mess with the locking problem. As for the Blu-Ray under the TV I know that you can't make the Blu-Ray multi Region but you can "Adjust" the DVD end to Multi-Region. In my case I have a Panasonic Blu-Ray with Freeview HD recorder. I was able to buy a remote control unit off ebay which was pretty much a point and shoot affair that unlocked the DVD to be able to play discs from any region.

Quite frankly, region coding is just another means by which the movie companies can gouge those extra dollars/pounds/euros, etc., from hapless consumers like us! There's no legitimate reason for region-coding, none whatsoever!

No I have a straight DVD drive for my computer (an external because Macs don't have them on-board anymore). I have a blu-ray for TV. The legality of region-free players in Canada is uncertain enough that most places don't sell them. My computer drive allows region changes 5 times maximum and then it locks permanently into the last one chosen. The last time I attempted to hack anything related to a computer I ended up wrecking it, so I don't. It's not worth the effort for something like The Champions. There really isn't anything available in the UK that I can't obtain here now; the big one was the UK had Six Million Dollar Man on DVD when we didn't but that's no longer an issue. Ditto UNCLE, Bionic Woman, etc.

@Cptbeefheart, A DVD drive in a computer totally ignores region codes and will happily play any DVD from any region! I would expect that also to be the case with Blu-ray drives.

@23skidoo. I didn't know you were using the drive in your computer as a DVD player, If that's the case you could buy a second drive and have one permanently on R1 and the other on R2, they are so cheap to buy these days, on ebay they're around £12. If you have a player under your TV you look for a site like here and follow instructions. Easy

@23Skidoo, if you have a Blu-Ray drive on your computer, you can play discs from any and all regions without need to convert to any given region. It works that way with DVDs so I don't see why Blu-Rays won't work the same way. As they say in the classics, "suck it and see!"

@henry. My Blu-ray player has no such place to input such info, unfortunately. I can set it to another region but it only allows me to do it three times before it locks permanently on one. I have to many R1 discs to have my player lock on Region 4 or something.

@23skidoo. All You do Is put In the Model of Your DVD player and then ask for a Remote Hack In Google. It will come as a Sequence of Numbers and Letters. Just punch them In, In order that It Is given. Watching for Capitol and Lower Case Letters. Then just press enter and Your Done. A Multiregional Player that will play anything You put In It. H.

This is one of the few fantasy-style ITC series of the late 60s I've never seen. It's never been shown in my neck of the woods (Canada), at least not in recent years (mine is the "wishlist" vote), and while it was released on DVD it came and went and copies now sell online for roughly the GDP of Liberia. They are slowly reissuing the shows though, including on Blu-ray, so hopefully this one will come around again. Or someone will have the bright idea of remaking it and they'll reissue the DVDs to cash in.

There's an episode where Sharron was trapped in a freezer inside a warehouse, after the guys rescue her she is recovering and her hair is down and all I can say is WOW!
I think it's the only time in the show her hair wasn't all tied up, it really softened her face and made her even more beautiful.
I read they made her keep her hair tied up to make her appear older and more mature.
She was a lot young than her two co-stars. They were about 30 and she was only like 21.

I loved these 60s action shows, The Baron, Department S, Jason King, The Saint, The Avengers, Randell & Hopkirk (Deceased).
To an impressionable prepubescent idiot these shows were catnip.

Aaahhhh heady days.

Alexandra Bastedo was Gorgeous. Thankfully I got lots of Hugs and Kisses from Her just a Few months before She died of the Dreaded C. Still was Beautiful till the end. And William Gaunt was such a laugh. I ask where Stuart Damon was. And He said couldn't get Him on the plane as Being back In America all those years has Paid It's Toll. He Is the size of a House now.  Alexandra Bastedo was one of my first loves, I thought she was stunning.
Watched this show when it aired and loved it, dated now, but to an impressionable youngster the thought of these super powers the team had was mesmerising.
