Nicholas Young was interviewed a few years ago about this.A young woman had recognised him in the street and said that when she watched it as a child she had a crush on him .He asked her to go for a drink with him but she replied,'That was then.'

You who turn the wheel and look to windward....etc.

I loved this back in the 70s and watched a few online a while back. It was the first time I'd seen it since I was a kid and it was fabulous. Unlike some shows when re-watched years later that seem tacky and dated, this was still a really great watch!

Loved this show! I have two novelisations at home! One of the top 10 greatest TV themes ever!

The opening credits scared the heck out of me back in the day. The show had a Doctor Who connection in that it featured an early role for Peter Davison if I recall correctly.

Low budget notwithstanding, the US remake couldn't hold a candle to this, though I did appreciate that they gave one of the original series actors a role in the new show.

It was a big favourite of mine too, deltic, at least up to about series 3. It was one of my first major disillusionments when I realised that I was never going to be a Tomorrow Person.

As you hinted, the show suffered from a very limited budget, but that title sequence was something special (and Dudley Simpson never wrote a better theme than this one!):

There's also a video of guitarist Steve Dell doing an acoustic guitar version of it which is just fantastic: (Not embedded as not strictly relevant)

I used to love this when I was about ten. Watching it back now it the most striking thing is just how bad the special effects were - they even made Doctor Who's look good!

Some of the episodes featured a very young Chris Chittell (Eric Pollard from Emmerdale) as a friend of the Tomorrow People.
