TV Series
Notes Originally produced for radio, with a TV version launched in 1950. Although ostensibly a game show with a "secret word" bonus prize, the primary focus of the series was Marx's comedic interactions with contestants who occasionally included celebrities, with some interviews adding a talk-show element to the proceedings. As a result, it was the first game show to see its reruns marketed (under the title The Best of Groucho). You Bet Your Life was the first US game show to run for 10 consecutive years. Several revivals have been attempted: a 1980-81 version with Buddy Hackett, an unsold 1988 pilot hosted by Richard Dawson, and a 1992-93 version hosted by Bil Cosby.
