deltic 3rd Jun 2015 | | TVIt Ain't Half Hot Mum (1974 - 1981) | While other Perry & Croft series are repeated ad infinitum this doesn't really stand a chance in today's PC climate.

deltic 3rd Jun 2015 | | TVEnid Blyton's Famous Five (1978 - 1979) | I never much cared for Enid Blyton - all very cosy and middle class, but always had a soft spot for this, maybe because of its contemporary setting.
It did have a memorable theme and also very effective use if incidental library music.

deltic 3rd Jun 2015 | | TVThe Tomorrow People (1973 - 1979) | I used to love this when I was about ten. Watching it back now it the most striking thing is just how bad the special effects were - they even made Doctor Who's look good!
Some of the episodes featured a very young Chris Chittell (Eric Pollard from Emmerdale) as a friend of the Tomorrow People.

deltic 24th May 2015 | | TVCount Arthur Strong (2013 - 2017) | Great news - series three has just been commissioned. Hope it gets a better time slot.

deltic 24th May 2015 | | TVSome Girls (2012 - 2014) | If you were to sum this series up in one sentence it would be a female version of the Inbetweeners. Although I like them both (despite being way outside the demographic!) this for me has the edge as there's a genuine warmth between the characters.

deltic 24th May 2015 | | TVDetectorists (2014 - Now) | Hidden away on BBC4 this series about the apparently mundane hobby of metal detecting won pretty much universal acclaim (along with a BAFTA) following its showing last year. Although it could be described as a gentle comedy that's doing it a disservice. It's something that really needs to be re-watched both to savour the nuances of the dialogue and pick up the things you missed first time round.
There are plans for a second series and I wouldn't be surprised to see a move to BBC 1 or 2.

deltic 24th May 2015 | | TVCount Arthur Strong (2013 - 2017) | After years of being on stage and radio the Count finally made it to TV in 2013. I've tried to convince my friends to watch this as it's the closest we've come to genius in years but have been met with indifference at best. The series was co-written by Graham Linehan and you can certainly see his touches.
