I don't know about him not having anything worth saying, you just have to watch two of the series he wrote and presented for the BBC The Victorians and Empire, for me they were just superb.

Pop Goes Northern Ireland (2009)
A series Commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland along the same lines as "Sounds Of The 60's" from the BBC and "Reeling In The Years" from RTE. Episode 1 starts in 1969 with news and music clips from the year

I haven't got the last two episodes of Season 2 (yet) but if anyone else does please post the title screens. These programs are a short compilation of the Look At Life box sets I have already uploaded to DVD world

Britain On Film (2012 - 2013)
Rated 10/10
In 1959, Britain’s biggest film company, The Rank Organisation, launched a bold experiment. Rank replaced its cinema newsreels with a series called Look at Life. These films observed all aspects of life in 60’s Britain. Rank sent its camera crews all over the country to record Britons at work and play. They recorded Britain’s passions and fashions. Our ancient traditions and modern anxieties. Their cameras also ventured further afield, to record Britons holidaying abroad and the men and women serving in the colonies and the Commonwealth. Shot on high-quality colour film, Look at Life was never broadcast on TV. The series offer unique insights into the passions, preoccupations and values of a pivotal era. The social and cultural shifts which took place in the 1960’s had a profound effect on British society. Traditional sources of authority were challenged as people questioned the established order. Demographic changes increased the diversity of towns and cities across Britain. Communities were forced to adapt to a newly modernised physical environment. It was an age that reshaped the character of British urban spaces, and fundamentally changed British lives.

Hitler's Last Year - In Color (2015)
The quality of the colourization and restoration of the film stock used in this documentary is some of the best I have ever seen. Well worth watching.

One of the most notable British commentators was Dan Maskell, who was known as the BBC's "voice of tennis" until his retirement in 1991. John Barrett succeeded him in that role until he retired in 2006. Current commentators working for the BBC at Wimbledon include British ex-players Andrew Castle, John Lloyd, Tim Henman, Greg Rusedski, Samantha Smith and Mark Petchey; tennis legends such as John McEnroe, Tracy Austin, Boris Becker and Lindsay Davenport; and general sports commentators including David Mercer, Barry Davies, Andrew Cotter and Nick Mullins. The coverage is presented by Sue Barker (2004-Current @ 2016) and highlights with Claire Balding. Previous BBC presenters include Des Lynam, David Vine, John Inverdale and Harry Carpenter. Are you serious, Dad's Army 2, I relly didn't think much of the first one. It's hard to top Arthur Lowe's pure comedic genius although I did like Bill Nighy's Sgt Wilson

I seem to remember it being 1975 and in colour. I was newly married that year and watched shows such as this for hints and tips. I also remember having the complete collection of "Know - How" magazines all in their very groovy 1970's brown ring binder folders.

If you liked this series don't even try to find it on DVD. It's not available from anywhere, which is a big pity, It has to be one of the funnier sitcoms on television for a long time. Luckily I have my old VHS transfers I can fall back on
