Ade Macrow 21st Jun 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - H.M.S. Donovan (1971) | Note the loss of the full stops for H.M.S. on the rising sun 3rd label variant, too.
Ade Macrow 12th Jun 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumJoan Baez - Joan Baez On Vanguard (1969) | Label mistitles song as Hatty Groves.
Ade Macrow 24th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - H.M.S. Donovan (1971) | Two of the four ultra-rare 'rising sun' 3rd label version pressings added.

Ade Macrow 24th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - H.M.S. Donovan (1971) | The change from the original orange to the purple/lilac was initiated within weeks of the album's UK release. (I bought it on issue and again, three weeks later, with the newer purple/lilac issue. A brief pressing run of 'rising sun' Dawn labels was made when Dawn changed its label design again but HMS Donovan had many more purple/lilac pressings than the first (orange) or third (rising sun) variants. Hence the use of the purple/lilac versions in the 4 LP box set 'Four Shades Of Donovan' - it was a way for parent company Pye to shift more back stock of HMS, Open Road (present in Four Shades in its original orange incarnation) and Donovan's Greatest Hits.
Open Road, incidentally, only appeared in the UK in orange and later (rarely) 'rising sun' Dawn label designs. There was no purple/lilac pressing for the album.

Ade Macrow 24th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumStackridge - Stackridge (1971) | Added a couple more MCAs. Still looking for that light blue/dark blue dogbone pressing. I've got it somewhere.....
Ade Macrow 22nd Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumStackridge - Stackridge (1971) | I'll have a rummage, Chris. Did you get the PM re: the Steeleye 'Electric Folk' series?
Ade Macrow 21st Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumStackridge - Stackridge (1971) | TWO dogbone pressings, Chris - the one illustrated and a later light blue/dark blue label.
Ade Macrow 14th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Commoners Crown (1975) | Added the 'commoner' (sic) UK labels with slightly differing text type(?). Certainly has the usual orange-red perimeter text.
Ade Macrow 14th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Rave On (1974) | Now added version with differing front artist typeface/colouration.
Ade Macrow 14th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Rave On (1974) | Another issue has the artists on the front cover listed in smaller black type in two lines at the bottom of the front, rather than the larger two-line typeface that stretches across the entire bottom as seen here.
Ade Macrow 12th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Rave On (1974) | Anybody know which version of 'Rave On' is here - the 'deliberate glitch' single version, the 'straight' version or the 'extended straight' version?
Ade Macrow 12th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Clogs (1972) | Anybody know which version of 'Rave On' is here - the 'deliberate glitch' single version, the 'straight' version or the 'extended straight' version?
Ade Macrow 12th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Almanack (1973) | The label error was presumably corrected later, as others rightly say 'Almanack'.
Ade Macrow 6th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Time Span (1977) | Typo on inner sleeve of gatefold but not on label - Price Charlie Stewart
Ade Macrow 6th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Time Span (1977) | Just noticed this double LP appears to be a combination of the earlier compilations, Almanack and Individually & Collectively, which were both issued on the Charisma mid-price series, Charisma Perspective.
Ade Macrow 28th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Parcel Of Rogues (1973) | Does anyone know if, due to The Oil Crisis of 74-75, a single sleeve edition of this was produced, as happened with so many others? I've never heard of such a variation, so I'm assuming not.....
Ade Macrow 13th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumPaul Simon - The Paul Simon Song Book (1965) | Original front cover now added.
Ade Macrow 22nd Jul 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumGeorge Harrison - Electronic Sound (1969) | Has anybody acquired a copy of the unadulterated front cover, without Bernie Krause's name being overpainted in silver?
Ade Macrow 20th Jul 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumStackridge - Extravaganza (1976) | I have the initial copy, complete with press kit, somewhere Chez Macrow. I'll dig it out and see if anything more can be gleaned from the included papers.
Ade Macrow 20th Jul 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumStackridge - Extravaganza (1976) | Rocket was indeed distributed by Island when it started and there are copies of this album with the label also having the Island' credit in white perimeter text. There were no extra goodies in any version of the disc, by way of posters or owt else.
At the launch gig/party for Rocket Records - which some of us were invited to attend - as well as Elton, John Reid et al, there were also some senior Island honchos (not Chris Blackwell, though).
Ade Macrow 10th May 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Donovan's Greatest Hits (1972) | They're the 1968 lushly orchestrated (and, imo, vastly inferior) re-makes. You probably know why these were substituted - because Peter Eden and Geoff Stephens (Eden-Stephens) and Iver Recordings were sub-franchised to Pye in '65. By the time this album was due for release, Pye only had the right to release Most-era material onwards. Hence the re-recordings.
What was bad was the lack of a sticker or anything else to indicate that CTW and C weren't the original cuts. Many purchasers were confounded to hear songs sounding nothing like the versions they'd grown up with and probably bought on singles four years before! Nowadays, the record company would turn this into a virtue, boldly proclaiming "With two new, alternative recordings of Catch The Wind and Colours!" or somesuch.
