annaloog ● 6th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Nylons - Seamless (1986) | The US Open Air track order differs significantly to that for the Canadian Attic release; "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and "Up On The Roof" have been added, replacing Attic's "Samba, Samba".
annaloog ● 5th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJerry Goldsmith - In Harm's Way (1965) | ... or, "Original Track Sound", as the case may be.
annaloog ● 5th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumRaymo And The Tennessee Rebels - Two Different Bars (1990) | The label name is not obvious (not on the cover), and was taken from the address line in the label perimeter print. Track titles are spelled as listed on the cover - the label printer seems to have taken a few liberties with spelling.
annaloog ● 2nd Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - P.D.Q. Bach: The Stoned Guest (1970) | Thanks for that info., it would go toward explaining why the XSV numbers in the runout were lined through.
annaloog ● 1st Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - P.D.Q. Bach: The Stoned Guest (1970) | Images added of a label variant (mainly differences in typography), from a Record Club of America copy ... date 12-29-70 inscribed in the runout.
annaloog ● 27th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJan Peerce, Maria Stader, Otto Wiener - Beethoven: Christ On The Mount Of Olives (1963) | I have a Brahms Violin Concerto Westminster LP with this Dunhill-inspired label design, which dates to 1969, acc. to my data base. I figure it's either a later pressing or a reissue. I may have two more, but haven't scanned their labels.
annaloog ● 25th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJackson Browne - For Everyman (1973) | The label design [images #3057610, 3057611] corresponds to the 1970s Elektra red label design with the small "E" logo.
annaloog ● 22nd Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Kenneth Schermerhorn - Nashville Platinum (1986) | The 16 songs mentioned in the Billboard article were pared down to 10 for the LP release.
B4 title is misspelled "You Don't Kow Me" on the label.
annaloog ● 20th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumEddie Dunstedter - The Bells Of Christmas (1959) | This LP was reissued ca. 1974 at a lower list price ('SM') prefix, with an updated label design [images #3470266 and 3470269].
annaloog ● 19th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Osipov Balalaika Orchestra - The Fabulous Osipov Balalaika Orchestra (1971) | My copy appears to be a Capitol-Scranton pressing with, oddly, the old 'anvil' mark on both sides ... IINM NAMI (which reinstated the 'anvil' mark) acquired Capitol's Scranton factory in 1973.
annaloog ● 16th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumLesley Gore - Lesley Gore Sings Of Mixed-Up Hearts (1963) | Earlier design black label images added . . . are the two bullets (●●) a factory mark?
annaloog ● 16th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumTom Paxton - #6 (1970) | Added Columbia-Pitman labels, with the 1855 Broadway address. Elektra's office move to 15 Columbus Circle was announced in Billboard's 23 May 1970 edition.
annaloog ● 14th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJordan College Of Music, John Colbert - 1967 1968 Symphonic Band And Wind Ensemble (1968) | A bit obscure, perhaps, this LP is notable for the performance by Doc Severinsen.
annaloog ● 12th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumMel Tormé - Right Now! | Three images of the 'original' 1966 stereo release have been moved to Columbia CS 9335.
annaloog ● 8th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Original Johnny Otis Show - The Original Johnny Otis Show (1978) |
Quote:
... My record is still in shrink, so I will not open it up for images....
Heh, just the other day I slit the shrinkwrap on an LP that had been sealed since 1970, so I could scan the labels..
annaloog ● 6th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Authentic Sound Effects Sampler (1963) | Date changed from 1964 to 1963: my copy has a 4-63 (mastering) date inscribed in the runout, both sides.
annaloog ● 3rd Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumEarth Opera - The Great American Eagle Tragedy (1969) | Promotional labels added; these appear to be from Sonic Recording Products (SON inscribed in the runout).

annaloog ● 26th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - What's Shakin' (1966) | This is similar to the catalog folders included with US Elektra LPs throughout the 1960s. The UK catalogues had the added benefit of listing singles, which the US copies never did.
annaloog ● 24th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumGlenn Yarbrough And Marilyn Child - Sing Folk Songs (1958) | Label scans [images #3447669, 3447670] added.
This album was one of several Elektra titles scheduled to be re-released in stereo, acc. to an article in Billboard's 29 Feb 1960 edition. If my '69 / '70 red label (mono) copy is anything to go on, this never happened.
annaloog ● 23rd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumJosh White - Sings Ballads — Blues (1957) | Interesting, good to know ... both Queens Litho. and Progressive Label & Litho. are also credited in that Elektra 10th Anniversary ad., as is Sonic Recording Products (Hicksville, L.I.), another custom pressing firm.
annaloog ● 23rd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Incredible String Band - The 5000 Spirits Or The Layers Of The Onion (1967) | What's the deal with "The Mad Hatter's Song" vs. "The Eyes Of Fate"? Some labels show the titles at A4 and A6, other show them at A6 and A4.
annaloog ● 23rd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumJosh White - Sings Ballads — Blues (1957) | This test pressing was sold to me in a plain white LP cover. The "Midnight Jazz Session" title apparently was added, in error, at a later time. I purchased this and another Abbey test pressing some 20 years or so ago mainly as a means of identifying their pressings.
Abbey Record Mfg. (East Newark, NJ) was still pressing vinyl LPs for Elektra into 1960, as credited in a two-page ad. spread in Billboard for Elektra's 10th Anniversary in Oct. 1960.
