esfera04 1st Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Pretty Things - The Pretty Things (1978) | Really stereo? The original 1965 releases were only available in mono.
esfera04 24th Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumPink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) | Since Roger Waters turned out to be an obnoxious Israel-hater, I don't put the record on anymore. I don't even listen to the new version "Redux".
esfera04 24th Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The World Of Hits (1969) | Yes, a nice compilation.
esfera04 24th Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds (2023) | @DeweyGill: That's right. I find the artwork of the otherwise good album uninspiring, a rather dull computer graphic. The inside of the gatefold is even duller. Miles away from "Between The Buttons", "Let It Bleed", "Sticky Fingers". But the 80s to 00s weren't any better. ("Undercover", the worst)
PS: I would have expected the album art to show an evening street littered with broken glass from a smashed shop window.
esfera04 28th May 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumDeep Purple - Shades Of Deep Purple (1970) | @78rpm-maniac: That´s right.
esfera04 10th Feb 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumManfred Mann - One Way (1967) | A compilation from the Netherlans which features several Single and EP-Tracks. Part of a series that features The Pretty Things, The Spencer Davis Group and others.
esfera04 10th Feb 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumDeep Purple - Shades Of Deep Purple (1970) | @78rep-maniac: No, only blue labels in 1968, White-Red Golden until 1967. Same with the Pretty Things "S.F. Sorrow" or Jeff Beck´s "Truth". 1C....introduced in (mid) 1969.
esfera04 24th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumPink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) | Bar code, 1973?
esfera04 10th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumRattles - The Witch (1971) | The Witch is a re-recorded album version with more guitar stuff.
esfera04 10th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumSerge Gainsbourg - Je T'Aime Moi Non Plus (1976) | 1966? Never. It´s the soundtrack album of the film "Je T´aime...Moi Non Plus" from 1975.
esfera04 3rd Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumSteam - Steam (1969) | Mercury and Fontana were sublabels of Philips / Phonogram.
esfera04 3rd Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumChrispian St. Peters - Yesterday's Pop Scene (1971) | Wrong spelling of the artist´s name: It should be Crispian St. Peters. My copy has the same catalogue number but a label code.
esfera04 3rd Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumCrispian St. Peters - You Were On My Mind (1971) | Wrong spelling of the artist´s name: It should be Crispian St. Peters.
esfera04 15th Jan 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Age Of Atlantic (1970) | @ SkayrKrow: "I Need Love" by Vanilla Fudge is the album version. And there´s a very special version of The Rolling Stones´ "Last Time" by Dada.
esfera04 14th Apr 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Electric Prunes - I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night (1978) | In 1978 little effort was made with this record. Both the front sleeve and especially the backsleeve are very reduced, the original artwork is simply missing. Was it too "sixties" in 1978? The 2017 mono edition is much more faithful to the original. (Reprise R1 6248). Anyway: A great LP.
esfera04 4th May 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - You Can All Join In (1969) | @7226power: Yes, you´re right!
esfera04 24th Mar 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumAlexis Korner - Alexis Korner (1971) | RAK released several albums that included Alexis Korner: CCS (SRAK 6751, 1970), CCS II (SRAK 503, 1972), CCS´ ´The Best Band In the Land´ (SRAK 504, 1973) and the compilation ´Bootleg Him´ (SRAK 511/512, 1972).
The record above includes a fine coverversion of Nick Drake´s ´Saturday Sun´ from ´Five Leaves Left´ (Island ILPS 9105, 1969). European releases of this album also exist: Philips 6423 023 (Netherlands), RAK 2C 062-92.524 (France) and, with a different sleeve: Metronome Records LMLP-15 802 (Germany).
esfera04 18th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVanilla Fudge - Vanilla Fudge (2017) | The first re-issue of the mono version was released by Sundazed, LP-5168 in 2004.
esfera04 18th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - That's Soul 3 (1973) | A very strong compilation.
esfera04 18th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Hot Hits 16 (1973) | Perhaps the best album of the Hot Hits series, nearly every track is a winner. And we have "The Jean Genie" and "Blockbuster" on one album, both with the genes of Bo Diddley´s "I´m A Man".
esfera04 18th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumCharles Bradley - Changes (2016) | Changes: Black Sabbath in a soulful mood! Great.
esfera04 18th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumHot Chocolate - XIV Greatest Hits (1976) | "Brother Louie", "Rumours" and "Disco Queen" are 3 reasons to buy this record.
esfera04 18th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - RAK Time (1980) | I prefer the earlier RAK stuff from 1970-1974, including more "serious" artists like Alexis Korner / C.C.S., Julie Felix, Duncan Browne.
esfera04 18th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rattles - Rattles Greatest Hits "New Recording" (1966) | Re-released in 1980 with the cat.-no. 818 014-1 Q (Phonogram)..

esfera04 18th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rattles - Rattles Production (1968) | This Rattles line-up included Rainer Degner (g, voc), Kurt ´Zappo´ Lüngen (bg), Hermann Rugenstein (g, voc), Peter ´Peet´Becker (dr), Bernd Schulz (keyb).
Herbert Hildebrand-Winhauer (prod, arr)
2 singles were released: After Tea / Thank You (Fontana 269 379 TF, b-side written by Jimmy Cliff aka Chambers), Fought The Lord / Lady Angeline (Fontana 269 384 TF). Lord, not Law.....no mistake.
esfera04 12th Jun 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Herd - Paradise & Underworld (1968) | Different sleeve as the UK Fontana album, but the tracklisting is identical.
esfera04 12th Jun 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Herd - Paradise Lost (1968) | "Howard Blaikley" are in fact Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley, very successful authors for Dave Dee, Beaky, Mick And Tich, Honeycombs, also producers of The Marmalade......lightweight pop. "From The Underword" is very nice track, influenced by the saga of Orpheus & Euridyke. Like the Beatles´"Penny Lane" it features a Bach trumpet. "Sad" is another track that has something to do with Johann Sebastian Bach, it´s an uncredited rendition of his "Air (D-Dur BWV 1068)". It shares that "Bach Spirit" with Procol Harum´s "A Whiter Shade Of Pale". "Impressions Of Oliver" and "Paradise Lost" include brass sound, arranged by Reg Tilsey who was also the arranger of the Pretty Things´ "Emotions". "On Your Own" is a nice track written by Peter Frampton and "She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not" has a jazzy feeling.
esfera04 24th Apr 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumBlind Faith - That's Blind Faith (1969) | The track A2 of the original album, ´Can´t Find My Way Home´, is missing here.
