Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band - Safe As Milk (1969)
I was under the impression the original Pye International 12 track version was deleted fairly quickly and replaced with this budget issue. I've only seen copies of the original with the temporary blue label.

Marble Arch re-issued Kinda Kinks in 1969 in its entirety.

Family - Family Entertainment (1969)
It wasn't uncommon for Kinney to have used the earlier PYE masters for their re-issues.

I have an original Pye pressed and Kinney re-issue of Mason Williams ' Long Time Blues/Classical Gas 45 for example.

I was amazed to find exactly the same Pye masters were utilised for both sides, the re-issue having an added K matrix too of course.

Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band - Safe As Milk (1969)
I fail to understand why two tracks, "I'm Glad" and "Grown So Ugly" were omitted from this re-issue. Surely, it would've been far cheaper has they used the original master cut plates instead of re-cutting it for this re-issue?

Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band - Safe As Milk (1967)
Labels uploaded. If issued in 1967 one would imagine this appearing on the pink Pye International label. This doesn't appear to exist which suggests the release date will be January 1968 or thereabouts?

The Who - Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy (1971)
I wonder why Magic Bus is in reprocessed stereo on this album when a true stereo version was available on the US Magic Bus LP?
It's a different recording to the original mono 45 too.

Track B7 is true stereo of course.

Elvis Presley - G.I. Blues (1960)
I've unexpectedly got a copy of this from a Discogs seller, who uses other mostly "junk" records to assist with packing!

A little tatty original 1960 issue. Nice to have. I look forward to listening to it.

Deep Purple - The Book Of Taliesyn (1969)
Another variation with Harvest Heritage labels. It's clearly not part of the series seeing it retains the original SHVL catalogue number.

Uploaded with kind permission of the owner.

Buddy Holly - Greatest Hits Vol. 2 (1970)
Another difference in label. My copy has gregs45's side 2 label, but differences in Side 1.

I take it the 1968 date relates to the reprocessed stereo versions.

The Shadows - 20 Golden Greats (1977)
I was surprised to hear Foot Tapper in reprocessed stereo, seeing a true stereo version exists.

I agree Hawkmarty. The text is also at the front of the sleeve on my own copy.

David Bowie - Don't Be Fooled By The Name (1981)
It's pure Tony Hatch. Love it!

Although Lee is right in some aspects in his review, this was the first time all his Pye A&B's were made available, and affordably at that.

The Tony Hatch Sound - The Tony Hatch Sound (1965)
Excellent album, clearly performed by the people who backed Petula Clark and others.
I almost expected her to start singing on I Know A Place!

Benny Hill - Benny Hill Sings (?) (1965)
Review
Benny Hill Sings? Yes he does and very well at that. He also wrote his own material.

With top arrangement by Tony Hatch, it's a must for fans of humorous records and the work of Hatch. I like both, so it's a match made in heaven for me. The mono mix is also far better.

My only gripe is the lack of credit for the female co vocalist on a couple of songs.

Really is a fine album from start to finish.

Yes - Going For The One (1977)
Got a very cheap copy in a nice condition. Unfortunately, it's missing its inner sleeve. It looks like a later issue with an A5 handwritten matrix, so possible it wasn't included in later pressings.

Various Artists - Hits Greatest Stiffs (1977)
I don't know if my memory is playing tricks on me, but I'm sure there was a Stiff various artists compilation which included The Damned's New Rose, Alberto's Kill from the Sniff Rock EP and Wreckless Eric's Whole Wide World.

I thought it was this one or A Bunch Of Stiffs. Obviously not.

Petula Clark - The Other Man's Grass Is Always Greener (1968)
Mystery as to why Pye introduced what's now known as the "Temporary blue label". It only lasted for around 3-4 months before the blue version of the "Top Hat" appeared.

One possibility was the winding up of the Picadilly label at the end of '67?

Anyone know the reason?

Benny Hill - Benny Hill Sings Ernie The Fastest Milkman In The West (1972)
Must be one of the fastest budget re-issues ever, seeing the original Columbia version was issued only in late 1971.

This MFP version is the one I remember, but as an oddity the original Columbia version is more commonly encountered in second hand stalls nowadays.

Various Artists - The Most Collection (Volume 1) (1972)
Had my copy for nearly 40 years, only just noticed it being Made In Holland. Like my Holland pressed Volume 2 the sleeve is printed in the UK, although only Volume 2 has a front laminated sleeve.

The Who - My Generation (1965)
Re Wordnwot's comments the letter B after the 1 would suggest the cutting engineer in code form. In this instance, B would suggest Ron Mason.

Some good info on Decca releases here.

The Who - The Who Sell Out (1967)
Only recently obtained a copy. Didn't know what I'd been missing over the years.
This makes the more familiar stereo version resemble unfinished demos in comparison!

Brilliant.
