Grapefruit - Around Grapefruit (1968)
Interesting. B5 is listed as Give It One More Try yet Theme For Twiggy on the rear sleeve. It's the opposite on the US issue I have.

Any chance of uploading the labels please?

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (1966)
Great to see the original label Rob. Thanks for uploading it.
My copy is clearly a second issue circ 1967-69.

The Hollies - 20 Golden Greats (1978)
Very good compilation even if it includes my pet hate, "He Ain't Heavy", which had to be included being one of their biggest hits.

Certainly was kind of Polydor to allow them to include their, " The Air That I Breathe" as well.

The Hollies - Hollies (1965)
Worth noting A1 and A6 have different mixes or possibly different recordings (?)
to the West Germany Odeon 45 I have, which I think are much better on the single.

The Who - A Quick One/The Who Sell Out (1974)
Got a copy of this 35 years ago cheaply as it was missing the "Sell Out" album.
I was later able to buy a German Polydor "Limited Edition" copy of the latter.

Remarkably different albums but both excellent.

The Moody Blues - To Our Children's, Children's, Children (1969)
Interesting to hear about the single wordnwot. I note it has a Philips (phonogram) catalogue number too, probably to fall in line with the usual Dutch Decca releases that were pressed by Philips there.

ZDR would of course indicate stereo. I'm not a Decca expert by any means but ZXDR could mean Stereo compatible with mono? I'm sure I've seen E, eg ERL used for albums featuring tracks in reprocessed stereo.

The Moody Blues - To Our Children's, Children's, Children (1969)
Actually , UK issues of TH1 and TH4 are stereo. TH2 is stereo side 1, mono side 2.
Don't know about TH3 though as I've never seen a copy.

Confusing when the labels have mono XDR matrixes but the inner groove is ZXDR which is stereo of course.

Renaissance - A Song For All Seasons (1978)
Uploaded the buff label issue. This also came with the same inner sleeve and poster.
Please excuse the square crops. Recently got an Android phone and don't have access to the laptop at the moment.
Update- found a couple of apps that do circular crops by requesting this in the search bar. Both I've tried convert only to PNG files. This can be rectified by using a file converter app that converts to JPGs.

Genesis - Selling England By The Pound (1973)
Comes in a gatefold sleeve unlike the UK version.

The Dave Clark Five - The Best Of The Dave Clark Five (1970)
Uploaded the earlier Regal-Starline labels.

Vinyl Album
Cat Stevens - The View From The Top (1975)
Purchased a copy primarily for the inclusion of, "The View From The Top" and "Where Are You", having not found the original 7" 45 release.

"The View From The Top" really is a superb track.

John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band - Shaved Fish (1975)
I understand A6 is an edited version omitting a whole verse from the version on, "Sometime In New York City"

Renaissance - Renaissance (1969)
I remembered how excited I was to find a copy of this album. I don't know if I expected too much but I thought the whole LP was dreadful and hardly anything like the great work to come with Annie Haslam and co.

Nothing wrong with Jane Relf as a vocalist. Her work with Jeff Wayne on the Findus, "Gone Fishing" commercial showed what an excellent singer she was, yet on this album I found it very weak generally.

Certainly a case of their best was yet to come with a change in band membership. I happily gave my copy of the album to a charity shop.

I hasten to add this is only my personal opinion.

Any chance someone could upload the Side 1 label please?

The Bee Gees - Massachusetts (1973)
Despite some tracks being in hideously reprocessed stereo which was the norm at the time of release this is an excellent compilation. Many of the great overlooked B-sides included such as, "Sinking Ships", "Sir Geoffrey", "Barker" and "Lamplight are included.

Various Artists - Indie Top 20 Volume VII (1989)
Very basic sleeve and labels yet what a brilliant compilation. I would personally rate each and every track on Side 1 and 2 with a 10. Something one seldom does even on an album featuring your favourite artist. Never really played the second album though. Perhaps I'll give it a spin someday.

Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band - Safe As Milk (1970)
I used to have a copy of this with the older multicolored label. It was badly mastered with "Abba Zabba" starting then an abrupt halt as if a tape machine was suddenly stopped then started again a couple of seconds later!

I imagine it was recut by the time the later issue came out!

Original Cast Recording - Oliver In The Overworld (1971)
There's another album called Oliver In The Overworld on the Regal-Starline label SRS 5019 credited to Freddie and The Dreamers, which is different to this album which has the original cast from the Southern Television show.

Very fond memories of this. Shame they wiped the videotapes.

The Beatles - Rubber Soul (1965)
Never understood why the original "loud" mix was deemed unsatisfactory. I had the later cut which I thought sounded a bit flat. I subsequently found the first pressing which sounds superb.
Would be interesting to hear comments on this from others.

I was puzzled as to why the sleeve states 1969, yet the labels date 1970!

Various Artists - Backtrack Two (1970)
Can't speak for all copies but mine at least is entirely mono.

"Purple Haze" is clearly the stereo version but compressed to mono. Likewise with "Pinball Wizard" which or course was issued in stereo in single form.

The all important side 4 on my copy is pressed off centre!
Full credit to those who managed to upload the labels. Very difficult to scan.

The Moody Blues - To Our Children's, Children's, Children (1969)
Thanks wordnwot. Your copy seems to have a different shade to mine which is more pink in colour. My copy is in poor condition but purchased for the pure novelty in finding a mono copy. Never seen a copy since. In contrast I've probably seen more mono copies of "Cord" and "Threshold of a Dream" than stereo.

The Move - Fire Brigade (1972)
I'm not sure if this was intended for the Dutch market as I'm sure my copy has a UK sleeve.
Worth noting this is one of the best pressings I've ever heard.

A2 is actually true stereo. Like A1 and B3 this is generally mono with overdubs in stereo such as the thunder in, "Flowers in the Rain" and the cello in "Lemon Tree"

Anyone know why this US release has a slightly rearranged track listing, eg with "Modern Man" the last track on Side 2?

Worth mentioning despite the colour of the vinyl it's a superb pressing!

US A&M copies on black and white vinyl were imported into the UK. I'll upload my copy in due course.

Ultravox! - Ha! Ha! Ha! (1977)
I used to have a re-issue of this with the short lived bubble labels and ULTRAVOX font as used on the "Systems of Romance" album. The insert became the inner sleeve. I estimate it must've been re-issued following the success of the Midge Ure era.

Something was badly amiss with the sound quality however. As well as being flat and muddy the stereo effect barely existed. I thought perhaps it was recorded that way until I found an original issue which sounds great and in full stereo!
Sadly I lost that copy too some years ago.

The Easybeats - The Easybeats (1969)
Issued circ 1969 suggesting the original UA "Good Friday" release was not in production for long. I note that was also issued in mono and stereo as well.
This is an excellent budget release though. Cost me 30p in the mid '80s!
