I'm looking at Discogs, and original pressings, like the one I own in VG+ condition are going for $200.. and up! Even damaged copies are going for $100.. man, that's crazy! In my brother's collection is a lavender colored pressing that is/was a exclusive from Target.. maybe I'll fetch that copy from my mom's house, and sell my original...

GimmeVinyl 8th Sep 2023		Vinyl Album Nat "King" Cole - Unforgettable Songs By Nat "King" Cole (1968)	Ok, Charlie 45 ... Time for an update! The "target" label with the odd cat# is... Drum roll please.. a Capitol record club pressing from 1968.. these were contract pressings, and in fact, just may have been pressed by MCA at Pinkneyville, if there is a hand written "2" in the deadwax. I've also seen a copy with a yellow variation of Capitol's infamous orange label, cat# SM-357, with no mention of it being part of the Star Line. This was from 1972.
GimmeVinyl 8th Sep 2023		Vinyl Album Nat King Cole - Unforgettable (1965)	If these selections are the original recordings as like on the original 1954 release of the "Unforgettable" Capitol LP, cat # T-357, then none of these songs were conducted by Ralph Carmichael. I have seen this a couple of times now. The 1961 stereo "remakes" for the "Nat King Cole Story" LP were conducted by Ralph Carmichael, and such, the Star Line 45 rpm singles are the 1961 recordings. GimmeVinyl 7th Sep 2023		Vinyl Album Nat King Cole - Unforgettable (1962)	Ok... The original mono non Star Line LP version was available from 1954 through 1962 with the various Capitol labels the company used between those years. In '62, with the advent of this Duophonic version, the mono LP was also given the Star Line moniker, even though the LP itself wasn't changed at all... Even kept the old T-357 catalog number. Since the cat # is the same as the original "Unforgettable" LP, it is my belief that it should be counted as a repress of the original mono LP.
GimmeVinyl 7th Sep 2023		Vinyl Album Nat King Cole - Unforgettable (1954)	The nice and clear "circle band" labels are what I believe to be the original 1954 pressing labels. Next, the turquoise label without the silver band, stating "LONG PLAY" only, came out in mid 1956. The top label, with the shadow on it, states "LONG PLAY HIGH FIDELITY". This is from 1957. Capitol discontinued their regular mono catalog in 1968, so the "target" Star Line would be the last "unadulterated" mono LP version of this classic album.

GimmeVinyl 3rd Sep 2023		Vinyl Album Nat "King" Cole And His Trio - Harvest Of Hits (1950)	Only one track on side B was recorded with an orchestra conducted by Frank DeVol, B4, "Nature Boy". This was recorded on August 27, 1947 at Radio Recorders, Hollywood. The rest are all King Cole Trio, without orchestra. In order, we have.. B1, Kee-Mo Ky-Mo, recorded on August 15, 1947 at Radio Recorders, Hollywood. B2, Gee Baby, Ain't I Good To You, recorded on November 30, 1943 at C.P. Macgregor, Los Angeles. B3, The Frim Fram Sauce, recorded on October 11, 1945 at WMCA studios, New York City.

I bought a copy back in '95.. only played it a couple of times.. traded it off last year. And no, I didn't think to see if it was really worth anything. Sold prices on Discogs run from $112 to $400.... Really?!

Billboard printed the release of the 7" 45 RPM box sets.. available as a 2 disc EP set or a 4 disc singles set on December 9, 1951. This LP must have been released after the New Year.

GimmeVinyl 24th Jan 2023		Vinyl Album The Beatles - 1962-1966 [The Red Album] (1976)	If you have the Canadian pressings of the 62-66 LP on the Apple label, they should be added to the 1973 release of this LP, as there isn't any yet! Personally, I haven't the slightest idea of whether the Canadian Apple red album labels have any differences as compared to the US '73 Apple release. What you may want to try, is comparing the fonts of the US LP scans to what you have. Even the small matrix numbers may be in a different font.

The label looked like the Italian pressing, but was entirely in English, not Italian. One of the members on this site pointed out what it was!

Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978)	My Dad bought me one of these for my birthday back in '78.. it's one of those things that, with hindsight being 20/20, should have been put away unopened... But nah... Me and my friends played the hell out of it, and got all scratched up. When Capitol made the disclaimer that this may not sound as well as the standard Capitol issue, they were absolutely right!
GimmeVinyl 23rd Jan 2023		Vinyl Album Ted Heath And His Music - All Time Top Twelve (1958)	Even though this LP was pressed in 1958, it is a very clean pressing, almost near mint in my opinion... and plays as if it were a brand new LP. The recording sounds impressive .. still sounds modern even today.

Just recently, I've discovered a 'burned' CD of this compilation a friend had given me some time back, and I've been playing it on the car... And at least 75 percent of the tracks are in mono, and I can't remember for the life of me whether or not the original LP is the same way...
