Madame Streggae 24th May 2024		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Club Ska '67 Vol.2 (1967)	This doesn't hang together as well as the first volume in my view - there are some great instrumentals here but just too many (nine of the twelve I think) to provide a decent balance. I wonder who the compiler was.
Madame Streggae 11th May 2024		Vinyl Album Al Brown - Here I Am Baby (1974)	I can't find any evidence that they played at Hyde Park Stampkool but neither can I find anything about any big outside gig (and with a hugely white audience) where Al Brown played, although I can quite believe he toured the UK in `74 on the strength of the title track from this album. Just playing it now - it's ok but probably not one I'd go back to much. He tends to go a bit OTT on the Al Green inflections for my liking, particularly on 'For The Good Times' and 'Girl In His Mind'.

Madame Streggae 26th Apr 2024		Vinyl Album Dandy - Rock Steady With (1967)	The only Giant album for sure John. Got mine way back in the mid-`80s for about £25, but every copy I've ever seen since on the odd occasion it surfaces has had a life, suggesting a short print run with little unsold stock.
Madame Streggae 25th Apr 2024		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Club Ska '67 (1967)	Country needs to be changed surely - this is a UK pressing. Mod edit: Country changed to UK. Agree this is a UK release. WIRL (West Indies Records Limited) was a label based in Jamaica and Barbados founded in 1958 by Edward Seagal however this LP was for the UK market (Imported by Island Records?)

Madame Streggae 25th Apr 2024		Vinyl Album Marie Bryant - Don't Touch My Nylons (1960)	Likewise, and yes, '59/'60 sounds about right for an issue year. Pretty sure I have her EP, but don't think 'Sixty Minute Man' is on it, which is the one I'd really like to hear (cover of the Dominoes?). What a great sleeve though (I'll probably get shot down in flames for saying that!). I wonder if it found it's way into the racks or was more below the shelf stuff?
Madame Streggae 23rd Apr 2024		Vinyl Album Marie Bryant - Don't Touch My Nylons (1960)	Guessing that track A1 is actually 'Mary's Lamb' as per the London Calypso series 78. This LP was also repressed on Melodisc's Fab subsidiary during 1968/69.
Madame Streggae 23rd Apr 2024		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Recipe For Soul Sauce (1969)	Not seen this before - would definitely be a nice to have but probably impossible to obtain in the UK. The two extra tracks are interesting - I assume Pama made the licensee pay for them!
Madame Streggae 20th Apr 2024		Vinyl Album The Crowns - Made Of Gold (1968)	Had this, sold it. I remember being disappointed that there was no Reggae on it ('The Champ' album went the same way). That was how I was back then. Probably should've held on to both, particularly as I have about 95% of Pama's LP output and if I'm to be a completist I should have these too.

Madame Streggae 15th Apr 2024		Vinyl Album Silvertones - Silver Bullets (1973)	From a posting on RKR's Facebook pages, this was seemingly also repressed when Saga took over Trojan with the 326 Kensal Road address on the rear of the sleeve, which had used the Upsetters' 'Double Seven' album as a mock-up. The original track list from that album was inadvertently left in so there's a sticker with the Silvertones' tracks pasted over it as a correction. One of the best albums Trojan ever issued in my opinion but it has its detractors. I imagine most Reggae buyers would have viewed the second pressing as old hat and would have been keener on Lee Perry's then current output. The one on RKR is the only example I've seen.

Maybe I should pick this up if I see it at an affordable price, even as a completist buy. I think I have all the Economy albums except the Doreen Shaeffer (admittedly nearly 40 years ago, but I had my hands on one and left it!).
Madame Streggae 10th Apr 2024		Vinyl Album Bim And Bam - Laugh With Bim And Bam (1970)	Never had or heard this one - I guess forking out for a copy for just these two vocal tracks is a bit OTT, although 'Mother Mack' is rather good. Jet Star must have seen enough mileage in it to have put it on CD. I think there are also a couple of tracks with Reggae beats on the Watford Gospel Singers' set on Pama.

Madame Streggae 30th Mar 2024		Vinyl Album Keith And Enid - Keith And Enid Sing (1963)	My copy has the red and white label used for the `62/`63 45s but without the mecolico stickers and 'recording first published....' credit. Can't quite work out why there would be stickers on one issue and not another - surely there would be publishing royalties to be paid on both? Unless of course the black label copies were a limited run of 99 or less?
Madame Streggae 30th Mar 2024		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Boss Reggae (1970)	My copy has quite a few clicks and pops on track 6, side 1, although the vinyl looks clean. So I can only assume Pama mastered this from a Jamaican vinyl copy, which is odd as I don't believe some of the tracks have ever turned up and the thinking seems to be that they would all have been on tape (I doubt Coxsone would have issued them on Stereo 45s). Not sure whether the same is true of the other tracks on the album - have to say I don't find the the sound quality that great.
Madame Streggae 30th Mar 2024		Vinyl Album Alan Freed And His Rock ´N Roll Band - Rock ´N Roll Dance Party (1956)	Tremendous sound on this - for a near 70 year old piece of vinyl it almost blew my speakers out. I played Gene Vincent's 1st UK Capitol set beforehand and the lo-fi quality in that was marked in comparison. It's a pleasant listen although it's a bit cod R&R and I can imagine some could do without Freed's enthusiastic introductions.

Madame Streggae 17th Mar 2024		Vinyl Album The Platters - The Best Of The Platters (1965)	Seen this on the older Ember orange/bronze label (using up old ones perhaps?) - looks to be a reissue of the Parlophone 10", in which case it must have a short playing time.
Madame Streggae 10th Mar 2024		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Club Reggae Vol.4 (1972)	Bought this at the time but like most didn't take a note of when. The Slim Smith LP two releases before this one was definitely `72 (a pal at primary school had it and I didn't see anything of him beyond September when we moved to different senior schools) so I would have said April `73 was too late at a time when Trojan were probably putting out as many as three new albums a week. These tracks would also have been six months old by then so a bit dusty.

Madame Streggae 7th Mar 2024		Vinyl Album Delano Stewart - Stay A Little Bit Longer (1970)	Good for you John - can't say I've played my copy in over 30 years though! Track B5 is a beauty, and one I've got on the back of Patsy's 'We Were Lovers' 45 on the same label. If memory serves correct, this might be one of those Trojan LPs with a 'swooshing' sound throughout. 'Brixton Cat' is another, although that's more of a squeek. Might sound ok in mono though?
