mojofilter 25th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVehicle - Vehicle (1977) | "Mr. Skin" was written by Jay Ferguson. I've never seen his name listed spelled with the 'u' first before, except on the US single that you linked to. That's a massive typo, there.

mojofilter 21st Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumMax Webster - High Class In Borrowed Shoes (1977) | Personnel change on this album to Kim Mitchell (guitars, vocals), Terry Watkinson (keyboards, vocals), Mike Tilka (bass, vocals), Gary McCracken (drums, vocals).

mojofilter 19th Oct 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe McCoys - Hang On Sloopy (1965) | Sorry, I was wrong, and now I have to go have a word with the Sony rep who came on the air with me in 1995 and told me (and the audience) that apparent fabrication.
Wikipedia says it was on the 1970 Bang various artists compilation "Bang & Shout Super Hits" (BLPS-220), but the article makes no mention of a 1967 appearance.
|
mojofilter 18th Oct 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe McCoys - Hang On Sloopy (1965) | The version with the extra verse was discovered in the vaults when the McCoys' recordings were being remastered for CD in the 1990s. So it was never issued on vinyl. It's on just about any McCoys CD released since then. Look for a running time of 3:53, give or take.

mojofilter 19th Aug 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 22 Fantastic Hits (1973) | I used to have this album. It's called "Fantastic."

mojofilter 5th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - 22 More Sun N' Surfin' Hits (1974) | Oh, great! Thanks for all the work you do in the background. We all appreciate it.

mojofilter 5th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Dylan - Melbourne, Australia 1966 (1974) | Possibly you misunderstood my comment. In bootlegging, there are no rules, and no honor among thieves. As the time when these were made recedes further into the past, it is harder and harder to identify which is the original pressing of a bootleg, and will become even more difficult, after the people who were around at the time have passed on. Because as soon as a new bootleg album hit the streets, another label got a copy and had it pressed up and reissued it on their own imprint; rinse and repeat. It was standard practice, and still is.
I would only post something if I knew it to be a fact. I don't post speculation or misinformation on public websites. I've been a bootleg collector for over 40 years, and I know a thing or two about them. TMOQ was the first label to release this recording with this artwork. It's been thoroughly documented. The copy of this album that you posted is a pirate of the TMQ because it has different labels than the original pressings. There are several other variations as well, all pressed by different bootleggers.

mojofilter 5th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Dylan - Melbourne, Australia 1966 (1974) | This is a pirate of the same album title and cover originally issued on Trade Mark Of Quality 61002, released 1974, with cover art by William Stout.
|
mojofilter 5th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Not For Sale (1985) | "Birthday" is a fake. There's no such thing as a "vocal track reference demo." This is an OOPS (Out-Of-Phase-Stereo) mix. In other words, it's the audio at 180 degrees out of phase of the released stereo mix. In the cv, the music is mono, and the voices are panned hard left and right, so when you OOPS that signal, the music is removed by phase cancellation, and all that remains is the vocals.
"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" is recorded the same way. If you OOPS it, the vocal track contains some things you've never heard with the music covering them up, that will make you laugh.
|
mojofilter 4th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Get Back Sessions (1971) | I've been able to find documentation of the catalogue number and year of issue of this album on this wonderful site.
|
mojofilter 4th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumBuddy Holly - The Buddy Holly Story (1969) | On the label, the composers of A1 are listed as Doudleaux and Feuco Bryant! Really?
That has got to be the worst mangling of anyone's names that I've ever seen.
The entry in the track listing ought to be changed, though, as it's right on the rear cover.
|
mojofilter 4th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumHerb Alpert And The Tijuana Brass - Solid Brass (1972) | This album has a different track list from the UK album of the same name that we have here on the site, so they can't be linked.
|
mojofilter 4th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumBelle Barth - If I Embarrass You Tell Your Friends (1960) | Front cover and labels added.
Now, I live about eight hours from where this album was recorded, but I found my copy fifteen hundred miles north of there, in Canada.
|
mojofilter 4th May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumPaul Revere And The Raiders - Midnight Ride With Paul Revere And The Raiders (1966) | Because this pressing is mono. If it were stereo, its prefix would be CS.
|
mojofilter 3rd May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTim Curry - Fearless (1979) | The US promo 12" of "I Do The Rock" b/w a 4:01 edited remix of "Paradise Garage" and a 4:00 edit of "Charge It" is here.
A German 7" with these mixes is here.
|
mojofilter 1st May 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumMax Webster - Mutiny Up My Sleeve (1978) | By the time of Max Webster's third album, original bassist Mike Tilka retired from performing with the group to move into production (co-producing this album with the group and Terry Brown) and management at Anthem Records. He was replaced by Dave Myles.
|
mojofilter 30th Apr 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumMax Webster - Max Webster (1976) | Max Webster personnel: Kim Mitchell (guitar, vocals), Terry Watkinson (keyboards, vocals), Mike Tilka (bass, vocals) and on this album, the drummer is Paul Kersey. He left the group after the album was recorded, and was replaced by Gary McCracken for the remainder of their career.
Their debut album reached #32 in the RPM Top Albums chart, and was eventually certified gold.
|
mojofilter 30th Apr 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Live At Demcas Hall, Egypt | The matrix numbers offer the clue that this is a pirate of Trade Mark Of Quality TMQ 73030, "The Beatles," issued 1973. The tracks are a mixture of BBC and live, with "Shout" being from their TV special, "Around The Beatles."
The letters CBM may indicate that Contraband Music had something to do with this release, although I can find no reference to one of their albums with the number of X3.

|
mojofilter 29th Apr 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumRicky Nelson - Ricky Nelson (1966) | I'd submit the front cover, but someone drew all over Rick's face with a pen, and I can't repair the damage with the clone tool. If anyone else has this album, please feel free to post the cover.
By the way, this LP runs 19:18 total!
|
mojofilter 27th Apr 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Songs From The Film "Help" (1965) | George wrote "I Need You" - so side one shouldn't all be credited to Lennon & McCartney. And on side two, he wrote "You Like Me Too Much."
|
mojofilter 22nd Apr 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumEric Burdon And The Animals - Remember The Liverpool Sound 3 (1974) | All of these tracks are Mickie Most productions and should rightly be credited to The Animals, but we have to go by what it says on the album.
I guess only the Japanese considered The Animals to have been purveyors of "the Liverpool sound." It's a long way from Liverpool to Newcastle! Maybe this album was compiled before maps were invented, or the history of rock and roll was a thing! Who knew?

mojofilter 21st Apr 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumVaughn Meader - The First Family (1962) | RCA Custom labels added. Thanks to W.B.lbl for the Columbia labels.

mojofilter 15th Jan 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Hollies - Bus Stop (1966) | Thank you, Phil. Corrections submitted.
|
mojofilter 15th Jan 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Hollies - Bus Stop (1966) | There are some typesetting errors and inconsistencies in the titles and credits. Side 1 Track 2 is credited to five writers, Isaac Hayes' name being hyphenated into the misspelled 'Issac' and Hayes; Side 2 Track 3 has Clint Ballard's name hyphenated into two people.
The back cover shows Side 2 Track 3 as "Don't You EVER Care" while it is correct on the label, although the parenthetical title is omitted there, and Side 2 Track 4 is shown on the cover as "Very Last Day" but on the label as "On The Very Last Day."
