musictom SUBS 14th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumJan And Dean - Jan & Dean Anthology Album (1971) | Here is another set of images from original issue, I believe.
musictom SUBS 14th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumJoe Jackson - Look Sharp! (1979) | With acknowledgement to Plaatjesman, here is a clearer set of stock images, pressed by Columbia, Terre Haute.
musictom SUBS 13th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumDan Hill - Longer Fuse (1977) | A side image {945488} seems to show marks for Columbia, Santa Maria. The B side
{945489} seems to indicate Terre Haute. As I obtained this at their Los Angeles distributor and Santa Maria pressed most (or all) of their west coast product, I'd assume this to be a Santa Maria product.
musictom SUBS 13th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumBuddy Holly - Greatest Hits (1967) | Hard to see on the labels but the cat# and matrix# are on the green part of the label.
musictom SUBS 13th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumAl Green - Greatest Hits Volume II (1977) | This is likely the last album released under the London distribution agreement.
musictom SUBS 13th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumTom T. Hall - Country Is (1974) | On promo copy deadwax markings include SRM-1-711 with 711 scratched out and replaced by handwritten 1009. Likely 1-711 was the originally intended catalog number. The 1000 series was started with a higher list price.
musictom SUBS 12th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumGrateful Dead - Workingman's Dead (1970) | Here is a later set of images, pressed by Capitol, Winchester, VA.
musictom SUBS 12th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Grassroots - Golden Grass (1968) | Here is another set of Monarch images, same deltas. Wonder which came first?
musictom SUBS 11th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumFresh [UK] - Fresh Today (1970) | I don't believe this group has anything to do with the late 70s group on Prodigal.
musictom SUBS 10th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumSpirit - The Family That Plays Together (2002) | The motel on the cover was across the street from Hollywood High School on Sunset Blvd. The $6 in the window was there for many years. I believe the address is 6830 Sunset Blvd. Today it is a Budget Inn.
musictom SUBS 10th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElectric Light Orchestra - Out Of The Blue (1977) | Couldn't have been too much later as it switched to CBS distribution in the middle of its chart run.
musictom SUBS 7th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElectric Light Orchestra - Out Of The Blue (1977) | I believe my images {937909 & 937910} plus 467939 - 467940 are from Columbia, Pitman, NJ.
musictom SUBS 7th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElectric Light Orchestra - Out Of The Blue (1977) | This was an interesting one from a retail perspective. When CBS took over Jet distribution, they re-released this under the CBS consolidated numbering scheme. UA (Capitol?) dumped all their inventory into the cutout market. So you had a situation where a high charting album could be purchased for full price or at a discount from the cut-out bins.
musictom SUBS 6th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumShakey Jake - Good Times | I have a feeling this is not a U.S. Release: Mention of European distribution at bottom of rear cover, sticker on label.
musictom SUBS 5th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Doors - Absolutely Live! (1970) | Here is a second set of images from Columbia Terre Haute.
musictom SUBS 5th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Doors - The Doors (1967) | Here's the Butterfly labels, pressed by Columbia, Santa Maria, I think.
musictom SUBS 4th Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Dave Clark Five - The Dave Clark Five's Greatest Hits (1966) | Here is a set of yellow images, from Pitman I believe.
musictom SUBS 2nd Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumCrosby, Stills And Nash - Crosby Stills And Nash (1969) | On my "PR" copy, images 932765 - 932767 is NOT a sleeve but a 1 piece fold in half lyric sheet (blank on the back).
musictom SUBS 1st Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumCreedence Clearwater Revival - 1968 / 1969 (1978) | Images all have MR hand scratched in deadwax, NOT MR in a circle. Also see what could be an S for Columbia Santa Maria. What with RCA, Hollywood closed, Fantasy would have been looking for another pressing plant. I don't remember ever seeing a Monarch, Fantasy record.
musictom SUBS 1st Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumRita Coolidge - Anytime...Anywhere (1977) | Different deltas for promo copy:
Side One Δ 22054.
Side Two Δ 22054-X.
musictom SUBS 1st Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumClear Light - Clear Light (1967) | Good write up on the group at BSN.
musictom SUBS 1st Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumEric Clapton - Slow Hand (1977) | On images 931986-931987, I've got PRC in deadwax. Not sure if it signifies Compton CA. or Richmond, IN.
musictom SUBS 1st Jan 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumEric Clapton - 461 Ocean Boulevard (1974) | On Monarch copy, both sides have Specialty SRC logo in deadwax.
musictom SUBS 31st Dec 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumEric Clapton - Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert (1973) | My Monarch copy also has the Specialty S with R & C in the loops. Atlantic must have been moving parts around.
musictom SUBS 31st Dec 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe City - Now That Everything's Been Said | No typical CBS markings in deadwax. No machine stamped numbers. Vinyl very bubbly, but plays good.
musictom SUBS 30th Dec 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Byrds - Turn! Turn! Turn! (1965) | Here you go W.B.lbl. A 2 Eye pressing from Santa Maria. My back cover is just barely different. No "A" and no "Manufactured by Columbia Records" bottom center. If you want I'll scan it in when I have a moment.
musictom SUBS 30th Dec 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumJackson Browne - Jackson Browne (1972) | Here is the Monarch set.
musictom SUBS 29th Dec 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumBobby Vinton - Bobby Vinton Sings For Lonely Nights (1965) | Labels say printed in U.S.A. Is this really the Canadian release?
musictom SUBS 29th Dec 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Live! At The Star-Club In Hamburg, Germany; 1962 (1977) | A bit different that the German version and at least one different writer credit.
musictom SUBS 28th Dec 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumSpencer Davis Group - Traffic (1968) | Looks like 549651 needs a separate entry.
