ppint. 18th Mar 2023		Vinyl Album Planxty - Cold Blow And The Rainy Night (1974)	the album title is given incorrectly as ''cold blow and a rainy night'' on side a label; but is given correctly as ''cold blow and the rainy night'' on both sides of the album cover and on side b label, and is again given correctly both as the title of track a3 on side a label and as the track title on the cover.
ppint. 18th Mar 2023		Vinyl Album Planxty - Planxty (1973)	track b4: ''follow me up to carlow'' this is credited wrongly on the album: the writer is known: it was published in the poet, patrick joseph mccall's ''songs of erinn'' (1899). the air or melody to which it was set is reputed to've been the marching song played by feach machugh o'byrne's pipers in the rebellion which the poem commemorates. (the credit for its arrangement is presumably both correct and accurate.)

ppint. 12th Mar 2023		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Picnic (1970)	indeed there are good tracks a-plenty on this sampler; - but i thought it worthwhile advising that ''embyo'' was regarded as a work-in-progress by its creators rather than a finished track ready for release, as quite a bit of the premium dealers were and had been asking for copies after it ceased to be available new from emi was - sometimes explicitly - related to its containing a significant pink floyd track not elsewise available.

ppint. 5th Oct 2022		Vinyl Album Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band - Safe As Milk (1969)	a gap of two years is not ''fairly immediately''; i don't remember seeing any deletions of the full-price album on sale at knocked-down prices in any of the record shops we frequented in north london, but i don't think i'd've been looking out specifically for it either. i suspect it was a fairly slow mover, after its first three-to-six months on the pye record group catalogue, and the decision to cease re-pressing it was in consequence an automatic reaction the very first time it came up for review. the pye record group was a strange monster, and one that didn't place much value upon the lp catalogue backlist of its pop groups - amongst which captain beefheart & his magic band were accounted, as well as the kinks - in comparison to their current and forthcoming singles: it didn't bother to release the pop groups' albums in stereo, for example, until years after the other majors - iirc ''something else by the kinks'' was the first kinkalbum released in stereo as well as in mono° - and even then, pye records didn't bother to have stereo lp covers (or dual stereo/mono covers) printed, but just stuck little white peelable sticky labels with the nspl-prefixed cat#s over the mono npl-prefixed numbers on the back covers. and this was despite their having been commendably quick to release their classical music lps in stereo. . .

ppint. 29th Sep 2022		Vinyl Album Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band - Safe As Milk (1969)	the marble arch label was always an at least somewhat ''semi-detached'' part of the atv-owned pye record group, releasing records seasonally or monthly, not weekly, and distributing mainly (though not solely) through non-traditional outlets, at prices greatly reduced from full-price 12'' lp records released on the main group labels. if marble arch had released the original, full lps at 10/6d at the same time as the main label release was distributed at ~27/11d (rising to 32/6d, 35/-, 37/6d, then 39/11d, then...) the main label managers at pye records would've had kittens! - and kicked up an almighty row, too, besides. . . (in the fading days of the pye records group, and as they increasingly lost uk (?& commonwealth?) rights to various merkin music companies' catalogues, this began to fall by the wayside - possibly as fewer and fewer employees who actually knew what they were doing stayed in the by-then obviously sinking ship.)
ppint. 29th Sep 2022		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Pebbles Volume 3 (1979)	lee wrecker: yr hmbl srppnt.'d suggest - if it can be established bfd are (or were) strine, that all their bootleg releases°° ought to be flagged ''australian'', and then the point that they're bootleg be stated in the notes: section. doing this will provide lpcatters and casual browsers with more information than the brick wall of country-flagging them ''bootleg''°. . . ° - unless someone - some lpcatter? - has managed to get away with establishing the country of ''bootleggia'', unnoticed by everyone, secretly affiliated it to the united nations as a secret country to be revealed to no-one at all, upon pain of vlad-the-impaler poutinisation with extreme prejudice, yet receiving credit & debit card payments and providing the monopoly service for this planet of fulfilling orders for the entirety of all bootleg vinyl, cds, dvds, bound books, etc. currently available at any given time. . . °° - are *none* of bfd's releases legitimate - ?

(1964)	when imperial / liberty released their equivalent of this lp in the states, they dropped tracks a4 & b4, shuffled the remaining ten around, and added both sides of their previous single, imperial 66086 in replacement, ''preach and teach'' backing ''yeh, yeh'', after which they renamed it (q.v.).
