| | For a better illustration on that fact, here is my picture of the Dave Brubeck US-Release for the sale in Germany as an export-edition. There is the additional CBS-sticker on front. |

| | Hi guys, I suspect that the texta blacking out and stickers on sladesounds' copy was done by a US one-stop on behalf of an importer in the UK; this was very common for US Columbia imports brought in by Aussie import shops. If the stickers actually have the CBS logo on them, as it sounds like 78rpm-maniac's copy does, then those would be authorized exports by US CBS for their affiliates in other countries; I would imagine that copies for US bases would fall into that latter category. |

| | Hi, i also own a Jazz-LP by Dave Brubeck - Take Five, also with overstickered front and back-covers with the "One-Eye-CBS-Logo" and with the black ring-shaped sticker for both labels. So Columbia USA made an export-edition for Germany out of the regular US-release. |

| | Thanks for info ppint.
Whilst I guessed on the Columbia being blanked out as there was already a UK Columbia record label I never thought of the possible US military connection even though I bought many an album myself from the military exchanges in Germany. |

| | sladesounds: done for distribution either in territories/markets where merkin columbia did not then own, nor control, rights to use the "columbia" record label name, or where they/their owners had chosen to settle on using "cbs" as their trading name and label name, to avoid potential confusion. yr hmbl srppnt. never saw a merkin columbia lp so modified and distributed here in the yuk-of-gb-and-norn-iron during the sixties & seventies (nor later), so s'spect they may've gone primarily through army & air force bases in germany, into south & central america - and possibly (?) to japan, and/or the caribbean. . .(?)°
° - with luck, somecatter actually involved in the masking of the "columbia" name on these and maybe even in overseeing their sales will be able to confirm whither they were actually intended to end up |

| | I have added scans from my copy which is the US version that has been bastardised for the UK market. The company Columbia has been manually blacked on the rear of the sleeve and the labels have had a paper circle pasted on to hide the company details. This is the 2nd or 3rd one like this in my collection so I guess it was a fairly common practice. |
