| | It's nice that Billboard showcase piece for the release of Hard Labor [BB 3.9.72 pg 36] showing the release date as 3.37.72 but seems like street date likely was 7.18.72 as this LP is reviewed in 7.22.72 issues of BB [pg 82] & CB [pg 23] & charted BB 7.29.72 & CB 8.5.72. |

| | {Images #2952885 & 2952886} is the first time a Columbia Pitman pressing is represented here. The latter is witness to Pitman's occasional use of deep groove, which would end in the next year.
I have a pressing with those fonts, but with the rim print same as the Santa Maria {Images #1515580 & 1515581}. Frankly, the Pitman layout is an improvement over all the labels which are mostly Santa Maria but one from Terre Haute with one of that plant's Varityper Headliner typefaces for the title and artist. |

| | I bought the reel-to-reel version of this album (seen here). While the cover art left much to be desired, it did mention an offer whereby anyone could obtain those cards by sending in $1 (supply limited) (offer expired Nov 1, 1972). Naturally, I picked up the tape a bit after the fact, so alas no cards. |

| | Some strange photos of the group in those cards. This is a very good album overall no doubt, you can let it play all through front to back and it will not disappoint. It shows the remarkable musical range of this wonderful band, that for some time filled in the American thirst for a pop Beatle almost fame magnitude band.TDN fit that bill for their period. Just a great charm about them. Maybe their last cohesive album before some unravelling began to take place. |

| | Whilst searching for another LP, I came across my copy of this(American issue, by the way), and looked inside for those picture cards. Alas, they were missing from my copy. I wasn't even aware of the existence of these cards until I saw this website and I had the album since 1973(it was roughly a year old when I bought it). so, I never bothered to look. It never occurred to me there'd be anything else in the package other than the LP. |

| | RC said: "Not forgetting the single lifted from the album A1" Of course! In all, the first four tracks on side A are stand-out tracks. I've still not looked to see if those cards are in my copy, but while I'm at it, Jasper, was the Australian sleeve(Probe label through EMI) the same as the US ABC/Dunhill issue? |

| | Hello, hello, hello! I bought a US issue of this LP back in 1973 but I did NOT see the extra "cards" in the package. Maybe I ought to investigate further into my copy to see if they're still there, undiscovered by me after 42 years of having this LP.
My pick of the tracks: A2 - MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME, A3 - PRELUDE TO MORNING(beautiful instrumental piece which leads nicely into) A4 - PIECES OF APRIL. Should also be noted that Kenny Rogers did a cover of B1 - TULSA TURNAROUND sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s. |

| | With acknowledgement to Trainman, I uploaded cover scans with the album cover flattened, to show the "box" nature of the album cover as mentioned by Trainman. The reason for the thickness of the album cover was to contain a slot to hold the seven photos of each band member in the form of 7.5"x11" playing cards. The front of each photo "card" is a picture of one of the seven band members. The back of each photo "card" is playing card art.
I also uploaded scans of the labels, the record sleeve and each of the seven photo "cards". |

| | Sleeve was actually an unusual package, a "box" about an 1/4" (6 cm) thick, with a closure flap, and a spacer inside to seem like more than one disc |
