TheDroid 23rd Aug 2018		Finally found a copy near the end of my collection with the complete white border in improved condition for image #1137099! At last everything is (nearly) organized! And mostly added to 45worlds!



TheDroid 20th Aug 2017		@Ajtharp, as requested, a second back cover without the over cropping. On my copy, the yellow section goes nearly to the edge and there is not the white border as shown in image #1137099. My old scanner is a little finicky on the edging of things, so occasionally I miss on these. Hope this improved scan is acceptable.

W.B.lbl 25th Aug 2016		Evidently, Capitol (for which The Band recorded) would have said no for use of that original version on the soundtrack on either label, even if it was in the film. And why two labels would have shared rights in different media may've been for legal reasons, not unlike why the Rod Stewart / Faces Live: Coast To Coast - Overtures And Beginners LP was issued on Mercury in the U.S. and Canada and Warners' in some other countries (and in the U.S., on tape). The answer in this case may be in articles about the release of this soundtrack as in vintage Billboards of the time, either on Google Books or on David Gleason's American Radio History site. But Hendrix and the Holy Modal Rounders were under contract to Reprise at the time . . .

Do you have any info to share on the story behind the Dunhill-Reprise arrangement and why The Band's version of The Weight wasn't featured on the soundtrack as it was in the film?



W.B.lbl 24th Aug 2016		The Canadian LP release was issued on Reprise MS 2026 (Side 1 - 30,957 / Side 2 - 30,958). Has yet to turn up here. B.T.W., I presume the one-box {Image #1137100} and two-box {Image #1137101} on each side, was on the same record?
