The above album was the first compilation to be titled HAWAII CONNIE, but is the result of all 12 tracks undergoing multiple overdubbing and remixing of backings to achieve a "pop" sound. The original backing, of a decidedly more HAWAIIAN nature, were recorded, in advance, on 20-22 February 1968. On 13, 18 and 19 March, Connie overdubbed her vocals and some mixing took place. On 28/29 March and 1 April 1968, large-scale instrumental overdubs and remixes were undertaken. At these same sessions, HAPPY HOURS was shortened from its original length, the introduction to I'LL REMEMBER YOU was removed, and a new version of WAIKIKI was cut by Connie.

The original accompaniments and full-length versions of these titles were first issued in Britain on MGM CS 8110 with the Connie Hawaiian-style picture replaced with a jacket depicting water lilies; and in Japan on MGM SMM 1180, where it was retitled A HAWAIIAN HOLIDAY WITH CONNIE FRANCIS and supplied in a gatefold sleeve incorporating the original Hawaiian portrait.

With the advent of CDs, it is the original performances that have gained wider recognition.

Produced by Bob Morgan
Arranged and conducted by Al Ham, Clem Low & Joe Mazzu
