@chrisb if you compare the ssla.8251 numbers on the labels on either side of the lp, they're actually ssla.8251a and ssla.8251b - and they match the alphanumeric string pressed into the plastic of the record near the labels on their respective sides: this is - or was - to help the charge hands set up the presses correctly for the operators slapping the paper labels on - with the ball of vinyl between them - in the correct order°:

they're termed the matrix numbers (though the full matrix number in the vinyl is a bit longer, usually, showing which generation matrix is being used), and don't necessarily bear any obvious relationship to the catalogue number allocated to their album by the record company.

° - sometimes, even so, they got this mixed up between them, or through some of the ''wrong'' side's labels getting mixed into the stack of labels placed close to the press-operator for immediate use

It seems to be an Export-Edition for the sale in Switzerland. Pressed in UK with additional Special-Edition inscription on label

It would seem that 717,002 is the correct catalogue number as it appears on both the front and back covers, as well as on the label.

Is the Cat. No. of this Swiss release SSLA.8251 as listed, or 717 002, which is also on the label and the sleeve? There aren't any other Swiss Stateside albums on the database to compare with.
