Madame Streggae 18th Dec 2023
| | Just found a first issue in a local charity shop for £7. Clearly had a bit of a life but looks like it should clean up well enough for a decent play. Quite a surprise to find something like this - I've had the French reissue since `76 and it's always been a favourite. |

| | Carryonsidney, you can find the tax code next to the center hole, it'll tell the period of that pressing:
from Oct 27th 1955 RT * turquoise
from June 1st 1957 XT * turquoise
from Oct 1st 1958 UT
from Apr 8th 1959 ET
from Aug 1st 1960 WT
from July 26th 1961 OT
from Apr 10th 1962 ZT * black
from Nov 26th 1962 PT
from Jan 1st 1963 MT * black
from July 1st 1963 KT * black
from Nov 23rd 1968 JT
I've put * after the codes if I have that one.
(I hear a voice saying: no, don't start collecting the whole set of different tax codes. You have too many copies of this album already!)
The turquoise labels were changed to black during XT tax code (as both colours exist with XT), somewhere in the middle of 1958 - I suppose... (does anyone know?) |

| | Does anybody know what period of time the 2nd pressing happened in? I just picked up a copy & o looks like original owner handily wrote a date on the back of sleeve 13/2/60 but wanted to confirm that? |

Magic Marmalade 23rd May 2015
| | Just shows how closely you have to look to discern any differences in pressing (if it is important to you), you could easily overlook that if you found a copy, and were just thrilled to find the turquoise labels.
(There's variations on everything!)
Just a shame mine has no sleeve and is virtually unlistenable... it plays, but the surface noise is such that it overwhelms the music. (sad face) |

| | MM Yours has the
RT tax code - Used from Oct 27th 1955 till May 31st 1957
Make1968's has the
XT tax code - Used from June 1st 1957 till September 30th 1958
so i think yours is earlier. |

Magic Marmalade 23rd May 2015
| | Just decided to mosey this way again for some reason, and had a look at the turquoise labels make1968 uploaded (A lot cleaner than mine!!!).
But nerd that I am I examined for any differences, and lo-and-behold, I found one!
The last track on side one: Waltz Of The Wind, has a "Chappell" publisher credit under it, but make's has it credited to: "Frank Music", the same as the later black rainbow rim labels.
...so assume that mine must be a slightly earlier press. |

Magic Marmalade 2nd Feb 2015
| | Weird... tried to find the matrix numbers on this, and couldn't immediately see them.
There is the customary 1 inch of dead wax between the end of the last tracks each side and the label edge... the matrices are (very lightly) stamped almost touching the last track grooves, where the run out groove makes it's first loop. It's between this groove and the last track's final groove, a space of only about 3mm!
Matrix numbers:
Side 1: T1 764-1N
Side 2: T2 764-1N
Only other markings either side is a single "G", at 3 o'clock. |

| | Mine is the original turquoise label pressing from 1956, which I would assume is at least as rare as the US turquoise pressing. |
