confranfan SUBS 26th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Connie Francis Sings Bacharach And David | A6: MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSLEF - second recording
Sleeve liner to this album is inaccurate in its presentation, including the listing of WISHIN' AND HOPIN' which is not contained on this album, and has never been recorded by Connie Francis. All other titles are listed at variance with the true tracking order. Sleeve of the album gives title as CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS BACHARACH AND DAVID, spine and labels credit it as CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS BURT BACHARACH/HAL DAVID.
WISHIN' NAD HOPIN' had been earmarked for a Bacharach/David album in April 1968, during which month Connie recorded THE STORY OF MY LIFE, LOVIN' IS A WAY OF LIVIN' and a first recording of MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF, all arranged by Teddy Randazzo. The above album was arranged and produced by Claus Ogerman on 1-3 October 1968.
I have added composer credits.

confranfan SUBS 26th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Connie & Clyde | The commercial release of this album was in stereo only but separate mono and stereo promo pressings were issued. Do a search for MGM SE 4573 for background details. Its release took effect before preceding entry MGM SE 4522 HAWAII CONNIE, due in large part, to the delay caused by the remixing of the Hawaiian accompaniments, and the topicality of the BONNIE AND CLYDE movie that provided the inspiration for the CONNIE & CLYDE Thirties package.

confranfan SUBS 26th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Hawaii Connie | The above album was the first compilation to be titled HAWAII CONNIE, but is the result of all 12 tracks undergoing multiple overdubbing and remixing of backings to achieve a "pop" sound. The original backing, of a decidedly more HAWAIIAN nature, were recorded, in advance, on 20-22 February 1968. On 13, 18 and 19 March, Connie overdubbed her vocals and some mixing took place. On 28/29 March and 1 April 1968, large-scale instrumental overdubs and remixes were undertaken. At these same sessions, HAPPY HOURS was shortened from its original length, the introduction to I'LL REMEMBER YOU was removed, and a new version of WAIKIKI was cut by Connie.
The original accompaniments and full-length versions of these titles were first issued in Britain on MGM CS 8110 with the Connie Hawaiian-style picture replaced with a jacket depicting water lilies; and in Japan on MGM SMM 1180, where it was retitled A HAWAIIAN HOLIDAY WITH CONNIE FRANCIS and supplied in a gatefold sleeve incorporating the original Hawaiian portrait.
With the advent of CDs, it is the original performances that have gained wider recognition.

confranfan SUBS 26th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - My Heart Cries For You | A1: LONELY AGAIN is the complete version of this song featuring an INTRO not present on the single release MGM K 13814.
B5: ANYTIME was first recorded by Connie Francis on July 11th, 1959 and included in the album MGM E/SE COUNTRY & WESTERN GOLDEN HITS. The above compilation features a second recording cut on December 8th, 1965. That same session also produced the tracks I WISH I HAD A WOODEN HEART, IVORY TOWER and ROOM FULL OF ROSES, all of which had release delayed for 19 months.
MGM E/SE 4487 MY HEART CRIES FOR YOU was the last commercial Connie Francis album issued on the BLACK/MULTI label and pressed in both mono and stereo formats, although some promotion LPs continued to be made available in both. From Summer 1967, the BLACK/MULTI label was replaced with a blue and gold design featuring a modern lion logo. Several back catalog BLACK/MULTI editions were reissued as BLUE/GOLD items and will be entered on the 45worlds site under their original catalog numbers when available.
I have further added cleaner scans of the front and back of the LP cover.

The above album in the third repackaging of the only Christmas collection recorded by Connie Francis. It was originally issued in November 1959 on MGM E/SE 3792 under the title CHRISTMAS IN MY HEART. In March 1962 it was made further available with the same title and catalog number but supplied in a new picture sleeve. The above release has been assigned the new catalog number of MGM E/SE 4399 and undergone a title change to CONNIE'S CHRISTMAS. The release retains the March 1962 revised sleeve picture, albeit slightly different

confranfan SUBS 26th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Movie Greats Of The 60's | A1: STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT - [Second recording]
A3: I WILL WAIT FOR YOU - [Love theme from 'The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg" [Les Parapluies de Cherbourg"]
A4: YOU'RE GONNA HEAR FROM ME - [Second recording]
A6: SOMEWHERE MY LOVE - [Lara's theme from "Doctor Zhivago" - third recording with intro]
B2: THE SHADOW OF YOUR SMILE - [Love theme from "The Sandpiper"]
B5: SENZA FINE - [Love theme from "The Flight Of The Phoenix" - third recording]
Both STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT and YOU'RE GONNA HEAR FROM ME were first recorded on April 20th, 1966. The compilation appearing on this album features the second recording of each, cut May 31st, 1966.
SOMEWHERE MY LOVE was originally recorded on March 15th, 1966 and another vocal on May 31st, 1966, neither of which have been released. This third recording, for which Connie overdubbed her vocal on June 1st, 1966 is complete and with orchestral introduction to "Lara's Theme from Doctor Zhivago". The vocal was first marketed on single MGM K 13545 in June 1966 minus the orchestral introduction.
SENZA FINE was first recorded by Connie Francis for 20th Century Fox for a soundtrack sequence of the movie "The Flight Of The Phoenix". She recorded a second version, on September 23rd, 1965, released in Britain on single MGM 1295 bw BOSSA NOVA HAND DANCE, an EP titled CONNIE FRANCIS on MGM EP 792 and subsequently on a single in FINLAND. The above LP contains a third recording, cut on December 8th, 1965. Publishing credits have used all three listed titles.
FORGET DOMANI was originally issued on single MGM K 13363 with a correct running time of 2:52. The above album credits a running time of 2:39 - but it is nearer 2:45. Its appearance on the Japanese LP MGM 9001-1/2 ALL ABOUT CONNIE FRANCIS lists the original 2:52 timing but runs 2:57. All three are the same recording and clearly the result of slight speed variance and/or early fadeout.

The harmony was overdubbed on September 25th, 1965. It is different to the first dual-tracked recording also known as the singles version which was released on MGM K 13420. This has a heavier beat and for which the harmony vocal was added on August 26th, 1965.

confranfan SUBS 25th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - When The Boys Meet The Girls | Unlike previous albums deriving from her movies, MGM E/SE 4123 FOLLOW THE BOYS and MGM E/SE 4229 LOOKING FOR LOVE, recordings on the LP and soundtrack to WHEN THE BOYS MEET THE GIRLS are one and the same.
All Connie Francis contributions were recorded on August 12th, 1965 as was a reprise version of the title track for the movie's closing sequence not included on the LP.
A second recording of WHEN THE BOYS MEET THE GIRLS, cut at the same August 12th, 1965 session, was planned for release on a single MGM K 13431 but was not issued.
I have added composer credits to this LP.

B1: Orchestral arrangement by Joe Mazzu
B2-B6: Orchestral arrangement by Henri Rose
Album produced by Danny Davis
All 12 of the above titles were recorded between May 21st & May 25th, 1965 at EMI's No. 1 Studio in Abbey Road, London. On June 3rd,1965 Connie overdubbed her Greek vocal to MISIRLOU and all three French vocals to LA VIE EN ROSE, WHAT NOW MY LOVE and MILORD. The original recordings of these titles remain unreleased as does her May 21st versions of MACK THE KNIFE and THE BOY FROM IPANEMA, the latter being re-recorded on May 25th. Two complete takes of MACK THE KNIFE resulted from the re-recording of this title on May 24th. The second of these was included in the above stereo compilation and the first appears on the mono editions.
Both mono and stereo editions were rushed out within a month of Connie's Greek/French overdubs. This resulted in a confusing variety of album sleeve and/or label title differences:
CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS ALL TIME INTERNATIONAL HITS
CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS THE ALL TIME INTERNATIONAL HITS
CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS ALL TIME INTERNATIONAL FAVORITES
I have added composer credits.
I have added a scan of the alternative front cover showing variation in album title
I have added scans of the alternative discs, both Side 1 & Side 2, showing the variation in album title on the pressing as well.

Stereo editions of this album - MGM SE 4294 - feature dual track version of NO BETTER OFF. Both mono and stereo editions feature second version of WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I? The title was originally released with a different ending (First version) on the British EP of the same title, MGM EP 775, in 1962 following Connie's presentation of the song as a Royal Variety Show in Scotland that year.
