Folker 22nd Jan 2021 | | CD SingleStereophonics - Hurry Up And Wait (Live) | Includes a 36cm x 48cm poster.
Folker 22nd Jan 2021 | | CD SingleSteppenwolf - Born To Be Wild | Added a case scan with a promotional sticker which quotes a different release date to that listed.
Folker 19th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleRobert Plant - 29 Palms | Just added a scan of the CD #2 placeholder card. I love that somebody at the record company actually thought it necessary to advise buyers not to try to play it.
Folker 18th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleThe Move - Flowers In The Rain EP | I've added another scan of the reverse of the inlay, with clearer text and the hidden area behind the flap.
Folker 17th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleThe Mavericks - Dance The Night Away | Given that both inlay and CD say "Made in the EU" and this was the version on sale in the UK, I'm not sure this qualifies as an "Australian edition". Country should be "Europe", even it it was exported to Australia.
Folker 14th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleFoo Fighters - Next Year | Includes a 2001 calendar in the form of a 35cm x 40cm poster.
Folker 14th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleDoves - Black And White Town | Includes a 24cm x 36cm poster.
Folker 12th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleBig Country - Fragile Thing | Track #1 features Eddi Reader.
Folker 11th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleBig Country - NON! | Came in a jewel case inside a slipcase, with poster. Slipcase uses same design as jewel case inserts. The poster is a an enlarged (36cm x 36cm) version of the front cover.
Folker 10th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleThe Wedding Present - Montreal | Added a scan of the inner sleeve. This is significant, because it's the only part of the packaging with a track listing. Unfortunately, the bright spark who chose white on pale green as a colour scheme didn't consider the possibility that somebody might actually want to read it.
Folker 10th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleVan Morrison - Philosophers Stone | Added a cover scan with a promo sticker showing a different release date.
Folker 10th Jan 2021 | | CD SingleNatalie Merchant - Wonder (Remix) | Added a cover scan with a complete undamaged hype sticker.
Folker 21st Oct 2019 | | 78 RPMAlan Lomax And The Ramblers - Hard Case / Dirty Old Town | Hard to find, even on a 45, but the 78 is rare as the proverbial chicken dentures. Not previously listed either here or on Discogs and only the 45 is listed in the RRPG. The only 78 listed on Popsike sold for £76, nine years ago. Astonished to find this a couple of days ago in a charity shop, for just 99p.
Folker 1st Aug 2019 | | 12" SingleLos Lobos - The Rosa Lee 4 Track EP | Added scans for promo, marked "Advanced DJ Copy Only". This came without a picture sleeve. Stock copies exist with a picture sleeve.
Folker 16th Mar 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumPete Townshend - Empty Glass | I've just bought a copy of this with a Spanish sleeve, but with a UK inner and UK vinyl. The catalogue numbers are different (Spanish sleeve says S 90.231). Has anyone else come across this combination? Or is this just a "marriage"?
Folker 10th Nov 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Great Barr Folk Choir And The Stringalongs - Folk | Just added this one. Associated with two EPs by the same choir, GBCS 3/4 and GBCS 5/6.
The rear of the sleeve is essentially blank, so there is no clue about where it was pressed. The catalogue numbers come from the runoff grooves, where they are prefixed by HNK. Does anybody have any idea which (UK) pressing plant that might have been? Currently, the label is simply attributed to "Great Barr Comprehensive School", for the sake of consistency with the two EPs referenced above.
Folker 25th Sep 2018 | | 12" SingleGary Moore And Phil Lynott - Out In The Fields | Not all sleeves were gatefolds. Also, I believe the poster only came with the gatefold issue.
Odd that they used the same cat number for both issues.
Folker 10th Aug 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Alarm - The Alarm | This is also listed on 45worlds 12-inch Singles, here. Technicaly, one of the listings is therefore a duplicate. I've always considered this a 12" single rather than an LP, but it could be argued either way. That then also begs the question about the correct home for the equivalent release on Illegal, which is currently listed on Vinyl Albums here, but not on 12-inch Singles.
Folker 10th Aug 2018 | | 12" SingleThe Alarm - The Stand | This is also listed on 45worlds Vinyl Albums, here. Technically, one of the listings is therefore a duplicate. I've always considered this a 12" single rather than an LP, but it could be argued either way.
Folker 10th Aug 2018 | | 12" SingleThe Alarm - Spirit Of '76 | Double has a different cat number, IRMTD 109. Would require a separate listing.
Folker 8th Aug 2018 | | 12" SingleIggy Pop - Livin' On The Edge Of The Night (Edit) | Gatefold copies had a different catalogue number, VUSTG 18. Requires a separate listing.
Folker 29th Jul 2018 | | 12" SingleBig Country - Hold The Heart | There was a separate issue with a different catalogue number (BIGCX44) which consisted of a gatefold sleeve and two 12-inch singles (the second disc consisting of interviews). That requires a separate listing, which I'll try to add when time permits.
Folker 8th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSimon And Garfunkel - Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. | Almost certainly Singapore/Malaysia. The cat no. font is the main clue.
Folker 7th Oct 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumMichael Bentine - Square Bashing | Oddly, while the label does indeed say 1967, the rear of the sleeve says (c) 1969.
Folker 21st Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumNic Jones - From The Devil To A Stranger | A belated word of agreement with Fokeman's comments. The Transatlantic and Highway issues should be separate. I've submitted a correction in the hope that the mods might sort this out. Ditto for Nics two previous LPs, on Trailer.
Folker 21st Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumNic Jones - Ballads And Songs | Added what I believe are, chronoligically, the 2nd labels. Dark red background, no track list, silver text.
Folker 28th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced | Mine is laminated front-only too. It was originally my mother's and she bought it in 1967. I've never seen a UK copy laminated f&b.
I've long been convinced that "laminated front and back" is yet another in the lamentably long list of errors in the RRPG. I once spotted exactly the same record in three different places in the same edition, all with significantly different valuations. The RRPG makes a good door-stop, but I wouldn't rely on it for much else.
Folker 7th Oct 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumMartin Carthy And Dave Swarbrick - Prince Heathen | I have this on the blue Fontana label, but suspect that it was originally released on the black equivalent. Can anyone confirm this?
More generally, does anyone know when Fontana switched their LP label colour from black to blue? It must be no earlier than 1970.
Folker 16th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumRoy Bailey - Roy Bailey | Exists in red and yellow label variants, with different rear sleeve detail regarding Leader Sound Ltd. Corresponding scans added.
Folker 16th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumLeon Rosselson With Martin Carthy And Roy Bailey - The Word Is Hugga Mugga Chugga Lugga Humbugga Boom Chit | I've added scans for the yellow version of the original Trailer labels. The company details on the rear of the accompanying sleeve are different to those shown, so I've added a scan of the relevant part of the sleeve. Oddly, the "5 North Villas" address is consistent with the earliest Trailer releases (late 60s/early 70s) whereas the scan I've added dates my copy to about 1977/78. The sleeve stock must have got used up in a pretty odd order, for such an early sleeve to end up on an 80s reissue.
