Pat Boone - The Best Of Pat Boone
Would all the early songs here be the 1959 stereo rerecordings?
Finally they put Moody River on a Hits LP. But I'm sorry they are still neglecting Johnny Will and Big Cold Wind from 1961. And wasn't Welcome New Lovers of 1960 considered a significant hit?

I suppose this can explain the Bill Justis Raunchy 45 I got, which plays as if it has a stereo groove. No difference in the label.
So deezee is confirming that such bootleg 45s were issued.

The Very Best Of The Jimmy Dean Show, Vol 1 - Unknown
The "Volume 1" is meaningless because this project did not continue.
There were also two DVD volumes issued by Time-Life in the 2000s titled The Best Of The Jimmy Dean Show.
Episodes can be researched at tv.com or IMDB.
I think my rear cover image here is wrong.

The Jimmy Dean Show - Season 1 Volume 1
Since Season 1 was remastered there has been more than one DVD compilation issued. It needs sorting out. There was a project of The Legends Group of Florida, but they were extremely negligent in the marketing phase. That release seems to have fallen by the wayside and is not on sale.

The Jimmy Dean Show - Season 1 Volume 1
Review
This includes 15 complete episodes from the entire first season of 31 episodes. For example Eddy Arnold, Johnny Cash, Eydie Gormé, Jane Morgan. Many episodes are not covered, including guests Teresa Brewer, The McGuire Sisters, Maureen O'Hara.
This is a project of Donna Dean Stevens, his former wife, and is available now.
A full-scale restoration was done on the original films, which is documented at YouTube. It is taken from kinescopes, which were movie film of a studio TV monitor. TV screens being curved, there are imperfections in the shaping of some faces. These kinescopes were made from 2-inch videotape. Otherwise the picture quality looks very good.

This collection is alright. No rerecordings. Little Things Mean A Lot turns out to be by Kitty Kallen. What a commentary on how well she is remembered. By the way if you like that song, my definitive rendition is by Anita Bryant.
C4 and C5 just seem to be album versions of other people's hit singles. C6 is the 1965 version with vocal chorale.

Those Redheads From Seattle - Kino Lorber
Review
Originally meant to be released May 9, it was delayed to do more touchup of the video master. Some orders were fulfilled on May 9, but somehow these were already corrected. 3-channel audio was created electronically by 3D Film Archive from mono source to recreate the original 3D release.
Listening in stereo it seems that the vocals are mainly centered while the orchestra is mainly on your left. I find the center channel volume is much lower than the left.
In 1953 the attempts to project 3D were not very successful. Now the testimony is that this has some of the best effects of all movies.

Those Redheads From Seattle - Kino Lorber
Review
A parallel issue with the Bluray, the film is newly restored. Video and audio quality are good. The Preview (trailer) is a little misshapen, too wide. The DVD description has errors about the story. Only Teresa Brewer as Pat Edmonds worked in the saloon, not all four daughters. It says it is "anamorphic", but the movie was not filmed anamorphic, so I don't understand that.

Those Redheads From Seattle (1953)
Disc release is out this month. US and Canada region only. 3D and flat.
My image above showing cropping is not correct. It turns out the 4:3 TV edition was cropped from the 1.66 widescreen, so there is a lot more image on the sides.

This video is the right shape, but on the disc release the preview turns out a little too wide.

C'mon, Let's Live A Little (1967)
I got the VD DVD taken off AMC. It's 4:3 cropped and shortened from 1:24 to 1:10. Two songs of Jackie's are missing, a bikini dance scene, and whatever else. Kim Carnes is at the teen TV stage here, called Mellie as the girlfriend of the dean's son.

Cosmos (1980)
I kept this on VHS, including Turner. I give Sagan credit for mentionning what Velikovsky wrote about a heavenly body interacting with earth to create upheavals.
Turner asked him "are you a socialist?" Sagan was an establishment Jew, but answered "I don't know what socialism is". Turner was a conservative with a magic touch, but it was taken from him by Time-Warner, and the "bankers" refused to loan him funds when he was ready to buy the MGM studio. Time-Warner gave him a position without power to "keep him out of trouble", as they would put it.

No complete episodes are available now, or even an episode list. If anyone has their own recordings now is the time to try to provide them. The Brothers are providing videos that only include their own performances, due to licencing.

The Haunting (1963)
Rated 5/10
This is one of the classic ghost movies. Four people decide to stay in this haunted house to study it.
Seeing this in the video era aged over 40, this movie did not affect me. It did not create an atmosphere that drew one in. The male leader was played by an actor with no personality or soul, just mechanically reciting his lines. Scenes that should have been effective did not involve me. Obviously it takes a special touch to create such films. "The Others" (2001) had that.

They call this idyllic. Some Englishmen don't even know that there is a lake district in England. It's in the north-west corner. Otherwise "there are no lakes in England". What kina kontry? How do those canals work?
The movie does somewhat satisfy the desire to get out into scenic country.

A5 is an unmastered studio take, with the chorus volume too low.
There is also a Ray Smith of UK of the 60s-70s who was a writer and guitarist, and did some work with Teresa Brewer too. His Youtube channel is riff490.
