The Beatles - The Decca Audition
Odd one, this CD. First time I've come across it. Very odd that the Japanese used the U.S. Decca label. If such an LP would have been released here, it would have been on the London label. I do remember a LP being available here, but it wasn't pressed on any major label.. and it was the "Decca tapes", with 3 or 4 of these songs omitted.

What a cool album! Would have never happened here in the States. Hendrix was on the Reprise label here, an The Who was on U.S. Decca...

Mel Blanc - I Taut I Taw A Puddy Tat / Yosemite Sam
Actually.. this was a hit record for Mel Blanc.. on the Hit Parade, 1951. I found the 7 inch 45 at a antique shop in excellent shape. I gave it to a friend of mine that's a big Mel Blanc/Looney Toons fan... So, yeah.. I've heard it.

Erna Sack - Voices Of Spring / The Nightingale
I once had this pressing, and the album it came in! It was a very good sounding recording, for sure! As for the date.. I don't remember seeing any copyright dates, but it probably wasn't too long after WWII.. because the records stated that it was recorded in Europe, and not Germany. I do see that Telefunken did release this recording in the UK in 1935.

There’s a hold up in the Bronx, Brooklyn’s broken out in fights… There’s a traffic jam in Harlem that’s backed up to Jackson Heights… There’s a scout troop short a child, Khrushchev’s due at Idlewild… Car 54, where are you?

Thanks to the information below, and the info Xiphophilos provided on a Metronome All Stars Victor pressing, I should now be able to give an approximate date on all my Victor/Bluebird/RCA Victor 78 pressings, as well as identify the pressing plant. I must admit that I didn't know too much on the history of RCA's Indianapolis plant before hand. Being from the Detroit area, it will be interesting to see which pressing plants my copies originated from! My guess would be Indianapolis for discs pressed in 1939 and later.. but, you never can tell!

Various Artists - Cruisin' 1961
I've noticed my copy of Cruisin' 1962 is different than the 1970 release. It seems shorter, like it's missing a couple songs. I'll have to pull it out and take a look.

Excellent information, xiphophilos! Does this also apply to the Bluebird label? I do know that Bluebird was gone when the change over to RCA Victor occurred.

Hmm.. old thread but.. Yeah, seeing as none of the tracks on this LP are Motown, yet it's on the Motown label does make you think.. But! Keep in mind that Christine was a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere (NOT a Fury..) and played music from 1958.. Not even Barrett Strong's "Money" on Tamla would have made it onto the playlist, not being released until August, 1959..

I see one is a 1943 repress.. because of the RCA meatball, and it states RCA Victor division of Radio Corporation of America..

This..is a pretty cool movie! And I got a BIG laugh when Ella Raines, wearing overalls, was under the hood of a 1949 Kaiser.. just wailing on the engine with a claw hammer.. Bill (Brian Donlevy) comes up, and exclaims "What are you doing to that beautiful engine???"
