JamesTrash 17th Aug 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Farewell To The Roxy | It's this Jets [Luton].
Also Blitz are not the band on No Future Records, but an earlier band with a female vocalist. perhaps Blitz [London] would work? Might also need The Streets [London] too.

JamesTrash 16th Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumAutographs - Autographs | All tracks recorded circa 1978. Includes the original unreleased version of the single 'While I'm Still Young' plus it's intended B-side 'Lonely Again'. My red vinyl copy was shipped from Detour on the 9th November and received on the 11th so may have been delayed a week from the scheduled release date.
Played this a couple of times now and it's a really good LP. Definitely no one hit wonders like some lone single bands. My use of the word 'hit' refers to creative rather than commercial.
JamesTrash 8th Sep 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Cramps - ...Off The Bone | Yes, 'Uranium Rock' is included on the picture disc issue but not on the original LP that was released 17/06/83. Picture discs came later, maybe 1985?
JamesTrash 7th Sep 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Jesus And Mary Chain - Sunset 666 | Haven't had time to listen to this yet but the black with white splatter vinyl looks impressive.
This from the sleeve notes - 'there are a couple wrong notes and errors in timing'. Typical Mary Chain then!
JamesTrash 1st Aug 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Selecter - Too Much Pressure | The release date should be 15 Feb 1980.
JamesTrash 16th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumTelevision Personalities - The Painted Word | Both the Direct Hits LP (as BIG 8) and the All For Art comp (as BIG 9) were also announced in Music Week for 11/11/83 but I guess Whaam! were being over ambitious planning 3 albums together. Maybe a financial issue?
Whaam! didn't get there act together until June 1984, Direct Hits on the 8th and the VA comp on the 22nd. The TVP's probably didn't want to wait that long so got the deal with Illuminated. The other two LP's dropped a number in the catalogue sequence.
JamesTrash 15th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumTelevision Personalities - The Painted Word | Scheduled 11/11/83 on Whaam! (BIG 7), not released. Scheduled 24/02/84 on Illuminated (JAMS 37) but delayed until (I think?) 13/04/84. The January 1985 date, likely sourced from Music Master, would be due to a distribution change from Jungle to Pinnacle.
JamesTrash 29th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Saints - Prehistoric Sounds | Full release dated added (music press sourced).
JamesTrash 2nd Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumSlade - Slayed? | Album charts sales figures were always a week behind the singles charts up until October 1979. So for Slade to chart from first week sales on w/e 9th December the release date would have been 24th November.
JamesTrash 8th Sep 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBruce Woolley And The Camera Club - English Garden | June 17th was a Sunday? Anyway it was released later than that. My info says it was scheduled for 26th October 1979 but may have been delayed until 9th November.
JamesTrash 20th Dec 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumE. F. Band - Deep Cut | Bullet was a UK (Stafford) based distributor. Bullet had regular mail order ads in the music papers at one point a bit like the Small Wonder ones listing both punk and heavy metal records. Bullet owned the Zenon/Neon label who released singles by Skeptix and obviously this Bullet Continental off-shoot. I'd say this was pressed in Scandinavia but for the UK market.
JamesTrash 3rd Nov 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumEddie And The Hot Rods - Life On The Line | Though scheduled for 4th November it wasn't in the shops until the 11th, the same week as The Jam's 'This Is The Modern World'. The Jam entered the charts at 54 on first week sales but the Hot Rods must have been hovering just below the top 60. Both albums were in the top 30 the following week.
JamesTrash 9th Mar 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Motors - Approved By The Motors | When the album was first released (28/04/78) technically only 'Sensation' was previously available on a single. 'You Beat the Hell Out Of Me' was a re-recording of a 1977 B-side (inferior IMO), other singles came later 'Airport' (26/05/78), 'Forget About You' (11/08/78) and 'Today' (17/11/78). The album with the new sleeve was released the same day as 'Today' which was re-mixed for the 45, but I don't know about a different mix for the actual album.
JamesTrash 9th Jan 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumTelevision - Marquee Moon | The singles actually came after the album, 'Marquee Moon' (8th April) and 'Prove It' (1st July). The album was released 11th March. To be disappointed there must been a delay in you buying the LP?
JamesTrash 11th Jul 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumSkids - Days In Europa | The black cover should have it's own entry despite the same catalogue number. The album was totally remixed and includes 'Masquerade' instead of 'Pros And Cons', and has the single version of 'Working For The Yankee Dollar' in place of the original album version. The track sequence is also altered. The release date for the black sleeve was 4th April 1980.
JamesTrash 8th Jul 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Times - Enjoy | Music Master says November 1986 for 'Enjoy' and April 1986 for 'Up Against It'. MM is not always 100% accurate but if they are wrong the correct date is usually earlier. Never noticed until now that Artpop! sequenced their catalogue numbers in reverse.
JamesTrash 16th Jun 2020 | | 12" SingleSlade - Six Of The Best | There is a half page ad for this in Record Mirror dated 07/06/80 which suggests a 6th June release. 'The New Singles' are often a week (or two) late with info so if that's your source PC then that might explain your notes saying the 13th.
JamesTrash 11th Jun 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumEddie And The Hot Rods - Fish 'N' Chips | Released in USA in 1980 but not until April 1981 in the UK. A few weeks after the 'Farther On Down The Road' 45 if I recall.
JamesTrash 2nd Mar 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Valves - Better Late... | I've entered the official release date though copies were sent out early by the band. Mine came with a custom flyer which I've included in the scans.
Recording details are on the insert. Some of the tracks have been around on unofficial cassette/CDR but the sound quality here is better. The Southside and REL demos are new to me but the other studio tracks are familiar. The full date for the Regent Sound demos is 18th December 1978, I think this was linked to an Albion Music publishing deal. There's 5 tracks on my cassette copy, missing tracks are 'Walk Don't Walk' (they've used the Maida Vale/BBC version on this LP) and 'It Don't Mean Nothing At All' which has a few tape drop-outs, maybe all sources are like that hence it not being included on this LP.
Would have prefered if the live tracks were from the late 70's rather than the 2013 reunion but that's just being picky. All the songs are great particularly 'Sister Radio', a potential hit single given the opportunity. There's probably enough material out there for another LP if you include the singles, the missing Regent Sound tracks, another BBC session (Mike Read 1979) and anything else I don't know about.
JamesTrash 29th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumRamones - Ramones | Full release date (30th July 1976) now added as requested by Problem Child. The one I'm not sure about is the UK first pressing of 'Leave Home' (with Carbona Not Glue), sometime in March but not the exact date. It doesn't help that it was quickly withdrawn.
JamesTrash 19th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Gas - Emotional Warfare | Added front sleeve. The Gas included Dell Vickers and Donnie Burke previously of pub rockers Sounder and powerpoppers Sneeky Feelin's.
JamesTrash 19th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumMagazine - Real Life | Added front sleeve and missing composer credits. Inner sleeve is a Virgin mid-price catalogue listing.
JamesTrash 17th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Dickies - Great Dictations (The Definitive Dickies Collection) | Added front sleeve, barcode and missing composer credits for band originals. The credits for the cover versions are as already entered but not always in the same sequence. I'll get round to adding the other images when time allows. Who else thinks there's something odd about playing a Dickies record that's not on coloured vinyl?
JamesTrash 17th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumStiff Little Fingers - Hanx! | Added front sleeve and composer credits. Recorded at two different gigs - The Rainbow, London 20/07/80 and Friars, Aylesbury 25/07/80.
JamesTrash 16th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Boys - Boys Only | I think this was released on the 30th January 1981, the same day as the 'Let It Rain' 45.
JamesTrash 16th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Carpettes - Frustration Paradise | I think this was released in October rather than November, either the 12th or 19th?
JamesTrash 16th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumDr. Feelgood - Stupidity | The release date should be 17th September 1976 not the 27th.
JamesTrash 16th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Lurkers - God's Lonely Men | Correct release date was 15th June 1979.
JamesTrash 14th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Nova Vaga | Entered this one as Various Artists but it's actually a bit of hybrid LP as The Warm get one side to themselves. The Beat Brothers on side two are actually The Warm (or at least 2 of them), and Floozie is The Warm again with their publicist Wendy Freeman on vocals. The Fred Banana Combo are German, Alan Libert's Parabola are from New York and The Exile are from Glasgow.
The Warm were 2 Portuguese brothers and a West Indian but based at the time in London. They pre-dated the punk/DIY thing in 1976 with a couple of singles financed by Rui Castro's girlfriend's father's credit card. Not that he knew about it! The Warm tracks here were recorded between 1974 and 1978. The version of the Ramones 'Pinhead' may just be better than the original.
JamesTrash 14th Nov 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Belfast Rock | Pretty much everyone on this LP (and Rip Off Records in general) were either showband chancers or pub rock casualties. Not that there aren't any decent tunes here. I'm particularly fond of 'Jimmy Jump' by The Jumpers!
My notes say January 1979 for a released date.
