keebrev 13th Oct 2016 | | 78 RPMGrammophon-Orchester - Seemannslos / Die Wachtparade, Op. 103 | There is also a code under the "Die Wachtparade" label just above the Reichsgesetz mark in the wax written: 1699
|
keebrev 11th Oct 2016 | | 78 RPMChoeurs De Belmont - Gui, Gui (Oui, Oui) / Fiorituro Italica (Pot-pourri D'airs Populaires Italiens) | I can't find any F cat# in the HMV UK, or anywhere else. Perhaps a export record for the French market?
|
keebrev 11th Oct 2016 | | 78 RPMChoeurs Et Orchestre De L 'Opera Paris - Faust / Guillaume Tell | Does somebody knows the date of this 11" record, please?
|
keebrev 8th Oct 2016 | | Classical ItemPhilharmonia Orchestra, London - Das Land Des Lächelns | Well, the four first digits could be a date, december 1979. But I don't know for shure, because there is no other date mark on the record or inner sleeve. No P in a circle with a date or something like that. Only the recording dates, somewhere in 1953.
|
keebrev 7th Oct 2016 | | Classical ItemPhilharmonia Orchestra, London - Das Land Des Lächelns | Sharp eyes, M.Marmelade! The number is 1279168212 in fluorecent red color, but I don't know what it means. Do you know (or someone elso) something more?

|
keebrev 27th Sep 2016 | | Classical ItemBerlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Ferenc Fricsay - Tchaikovsky | Look at this record, and you'll see a M45 triangle on a stereo record. It only indicates a microgroove record, mono or stereo.
Here you see a N(ormal) 78 in a retangular box, in the shellac era.
|
keebrev 27th Sep 2016 | | Classical ItemBerlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Ferenc Fricsay - Tchaikovsky | No,no,no, it's not the M of Mono (in 1954 you didn't have Stereophonic records!) , it means Microgroove. I have make the same mistake until 1970, when stereo singles have also the M45 triangle, came usual. Then I knew it didn't mean mono, but I didn't either know what it well meant.
In the fifties you had also a Normal groove, for the 78rpm records.
Some recordplayers had a flip/turn-over pick-up element, one for the M and the other for the N records.
p.s. Mono text on records came in the stereo era, after 1958.

keebrev 27th Sep 2016 | | Classical ItemKathleen Ferrier - De Onvergetelijke Stem Van Kathleen Ferrier | The original album was a box set 375 022 XNU. Other records from this serie are from 1968 (even a Dutch release of the Phase 4 Stereo!), so I presume 1968 is the year of this release.
The 6745 004 album is a re-issue of this box set in a cheaper gate-folded sleeve; as PhilMH mentioned issued somewhere in the early seventies.

keebrev 24th Sep 2016 | | Classical ItemClifford Curzon - Grieg: Piano Concerto | ....knownledgeable people.... Well, I'm certainly not, I've got it from here:http://classite.com/music/Decca-lps/decca-sxl-intro.htm.
Ahumm... "Plum" sleeve means as dark as Eastern purple?, Well, mines is just as red as yours.
The matrix numbers are ZAL-4599-5W and ZAL-4600-7W, exactly the same.
The letters are indeed different, you can guess Mr. Curzon complaint about the size of the lettertype. So Decca did make the same lettertype as the title letters.

keebrev 24th Sep 2016 | | Classical ItemKathleen Ferrier - De Onvergetelijke Stem Van Kathleen Ferrier | The year 1986 is printed on the inner sleeve.
Philips used these labels for every company they issued in the Netherlands. All in Europe? I don't believe so. In Germany Decca was represented by TELefunkenDECca (Teldec).
|
keebrev 24th Sep 2016 | | Classical ItemClifford Curzon - Grieg: Piano Concerto | Here's a better copy of the labels. Did you notice the different labels on each side of the record? The B-side label is what they called a ED2 (English Dark2); the other something in between ED1 and ED2, so I will suppose ED1 1/2. It has the Decca notes on the label just like ED1, but the style is like ED2.
Mark the J/T tax code ( a little bit earlier?)

keebrev 21st Sep 2016 | | Classical ItemKathleen Ferrier - De Onvergetelijke Stem Van Kathleen Ferrier | Mark the old DECCA logo on the label.
