musictom SUBS 14th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumLightning Hopkins - Low Down Dirty Blues | Not sure who R. Ellen is. My Arhoolie CDs (330 & 337) credit the Lightning Hopkins tracks to Sam Hopkins (Lightnin').
musictom SUBS 14th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumHarvey Mandel - Get Off In Chicago | Looks like a serious problem with the B side label {1002951}, missed over print or wrong label or both.
musictom SUBS 13th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumChampion Jack Dupree - From New Orleans To Chicago | On images 1002816 & 1002819, 4-6-70 scratched in dead wax.
musictom SUBS 13th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn Mayall's Bluesbreakers - A Hard Road | B side (1002597) has a reverse MR in deadwax. No deltas on either side.
musictom SUBS 13th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumB. B. King - Completely Well | Monarch neglected to put the album title on the labels.
musictom SUBS 12th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn Lee Hooker - "Johnny Lee" | I replaced the jacket images. Should be readable now.

musictom SUBS 7th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Young Rascals - Groovin' | I rotated the back cover to appear as it would if you were holding the album. Record exits to the left.
musictom SUBS 7th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Young Rascals - Groovin' | Here is another set of images possibly from Columbia, Terre Haute. Apparently this label is in error. The printing is on Atco blanks.
musictom SUBS 7th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumNeil Young - Young Man's Fancy | Quality varies. Must have been recorded from the audience as you can hear people cough near by. Sugar Mountain runs to 10:42 with a lot of banter.
musictom SUBS 5th Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumAretha Franklin - Aretha | Actually cut-out and promo are two different things. Promos are give to radio and press to promote the record. They are often mutilated in some fashion to discourage selling. Cut-out (meaning cut out of the catalog) is when an record has stopped selling and remaining stock is being sold off at reduced price (with no return privileges). They are marked in some fashion to indicate no return.
The net result may look the same; it may be hard to tell a promo from a cut-out after the fact.
musictom SUBS 1st Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumStevie Wonder - Stevie Wonder Live | Both images 992076-992077 have 2-9-70 scratched in dead wax.
musictom SUBS 1st Mar 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumStevie Wonder - Talking Book | Promo copy has RCA "H" crossed out in deadwax and replaced by an "I". As I recall Motown didn't make a lot of white label promos on the west Coast, mid to late 1970s.

musictom SUBS 23rd Feb 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumT. Rex - T. Rex | checkm8: Your memory is correct. Here are the rest of the cover images. This was a pretty screwy package: no way to keep it all together in one piece.
musictom SUBS 23rd Feb 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Spencer Davis Group - I'm A Man | With acknowledgment to TheDroid, here are the front and back covers without the shrink wrap.
musictom SUBS 23rd Feb 2016 | | Vinyl Album10cc - Deceptive Bends | I'm using an iPhone as a camera and taking the photos outside in the sun. Tends to work pretty good; little to no reflection.
musictom SUBS 23rd Feb 2016 | | Vinyl Album10cc - Deceptive Bends | With acknowledgment to nicoldo64, here is a slightly better set of cover images without the flash reflection.
musictom SUBS 22nd Feb 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThem - Them Featuring Van Morrison | Interesting story on Gloria (Quoted from text in column 2):
[Baby Please Don't Go] Released in late '64 b/w "Gloria," it never quite made the upper brackets of the surveys, but a few months later Parrot-London was smart enough to merely flip it over and ship "Gloria" to all the radio stations and rack jobbers (with "Baby Please Don't Go" still the flip), and the rest is history. Almost. Them's version of "Gloria" was a monster hit in the West, but never quite made it across most of the rest of America. A few months later a prototype punk rock group out of Chicago called the Shadows Of Knight covered it and hit everywhere in the country except the West, where everybody had heard, cruised and danced to and memorized the real original until placebos were unthinkable.
This is exactly as I remember it in the Los Angeles area. I NEVER heard the Shadows of Knight version until a few years ago.

musictom SUBS 15th Feb 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumRod Stewart - Every Picture Tells A Story | My copy, identical to {Images #530218 & 530219} WAS pressed by RCA hollywood. Feels like Dynaflex but no such markings.

musictom SUBS 13th Feb 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumPaul Simon - There Goes Rhymin' Simon | Actually HarvestmanMan's front cover is a bit different; it does NOT have the Kodachrome credit.
