Neil Forbes 24th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Christine | And in all these tracks, not even one from Motown itself among them! Huh? How could a company issue a compilation and NOT include at least one from its own back-catalogue in the mix?
Neil Forbes 24th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - The Beatles' Second Album | Oh dear, RC! By saying I was "concerned" about the photo grouping simply meant I was drawing attention to the three different albums from three(or four, if you include England) different countries that used the same photo grouping.
Neil Forbes 24th Sep 2015 | | CinemaCarry On Sergeant (1958) | This was the first of the Carry-On "franchise" and featured William Hartnell five years before he became the first Dr. Who.
Neil Forbes 24th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - The Beatles' Second Album | It's not the content of the record(s) I'm concerned with here, RC, it's the use of the photo grouping on the following LPs: Second Album(USA/UK[likely different track listing on US version]), Long Tall Sally(Canada) and Big Beat Of The Beatles(Rhodesia). These three and some others share the same photo grouping on the front cover.
Neil Forbes 24th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - The Beatles' Second Album | They used the photo grouping on a Canadian LP, Long Tall Sally and two others from the USA and Rhodesia so this photo grouping has had a lot of exposure.
Neil Forbes 24th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Rocka | Ah there's anomalies to be found everywhere, my friend! Never know when you're liable to stumble across one or three!
Neil Forbes 24th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Rocka | There's a ring-in here! Can you pick it? If you said B4 - Little River Band, you'd be right! Well spotted! Little River Band were on the EMI label, then later on Capitol. They were never on the Albert Productions label.
Neil Forbes 24th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - The Beatles' Second Album | There's that photo grouping again! They really flogged it at Capitol, both in Canada and the USA!
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | 78 RPM[no artist listed] - Little Bo Peep / Hickory Dickory Dock | Ah, RC, it helps if you played them at the right speed, otherwise the performers sound as if they'd aged several years or were sozzled on booze!
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | If the moderator can link this one with the two other versions, please do so. Cheers!
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | 78 RPMErnie Sigley - It Happened Again / Love Is A Golden Ring | They were still being issued as late as 1961, particularly by EMI(who were still showing themselves on some labels as Columbia Graphophone Australia Ltd., even on 45s)
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | 78 RPM[no artist listed] - Little Bo Peep / Hickory Dickory Dock | It played at 78rpm but was pressed in vinyl. These records were intended for use with the Lumar toy gramophones(clockwork or battery-powered motor-driven versions) and played for not much more that 3 minutes, if that. The diameter... about 5-6 inches(in the old scale).
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | 78 RPMErnie Sigley - It Happened Again / Love Is A Golden Ring | Still a teenager though! Actually, If I see the "And Here's Ernie" LP I might just buy it,if only for that re-recorded track. There's no likelihood of me stumbling across any copies of this 78 though, but I could fluke a 45 of it(if it was issued in that format, a definite possibility).
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | I got quite a few yank 45s like that! Some dullard bores a hole in them(wouldn't even need a drill, he's so "boring" - ha-ha) and they are then rendered as "remaindered stock" and sold off at canary prices (cheep-ly! ha-ha)

Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | TVHome And Away (1988 - Now) | RC: "I haven't seen home and away since 1999 watched abit of it the other night gone the days good video quality looks like it's shot in 8mm film and who is directing it must be stoned it goes from scene to scene they can't even keep that camera steady haha"
errrr like..... faaa-aaar out, man! Got 'ny more weed?(ha-ha)
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | TVHome And Away (1988 - Now) | I continue to watch it only because the network isn't producing any other drama or comedy, just putrid "reality(contrived)" shows.... Ugh!
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | TVDon't Blame The Koalas (2002 - 2003) | Enough to send shivers down a poor koala's spine....Brrrrrrr!
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | TVHome And Away (1988 - Now) | Not all the time, though, occasionally they cut the Thursday night show back to half-an-hour.
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | TVDon't Blame The Koalas (2002 - 2003) | Oh don't say that, RC, you'll have Edna Everidge giving them nightmares! (ha-ha) "Hello, possums!"(eeyyyeeewww!)
Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | TVHome And Away (1988 - Now) | @23Skiddoo, it's a daily programme, though these days it airs from 7.00 to 7.30 pm Monday to Wednesday, then 7.00 to 8.00pm Thursdays on Station ATN-Sydney and affiliated capital city stations as well as the Prime network through regional Australia.

Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Rock-N-Roll Heaven | ReviewThis album seems a bit lost in the eras it's trying to cover. It jumps around from late 1950s, early 1960s, late 1960s and early-to-mid 1970s but jumps forward and backward between these eras. Also the compilation has tracks (namely B4, B5 & B8) which, though classic hits in their own right, are truly out of place in what is supposed to be an album of Rock & Roll hits.

Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | Okay, you got rid of the raddish effect! The green Columbia label colour would've been used right through the 1970s up to the point when Sony(formerly CBS) started using the Columbia name here after EMI "retired" their Columbia" brand in the late 1980s(a bad move as there was a great deal of history wrapped up in that brand, and the HMV brand which formed the two flagship labels of EMI. By rights EMI should've kept the labels active, here and in England). The green label was for general issues though other colours were used for other special releases through the 70s, then they switched to orange in the early 1980s for general issues while still using other colours, including green, for other special issues.

Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | You've been eating radishes again, RC, haven't you? You're repeating yourself.... repeating yourself.... repeating yourself.... repeating yourself.... repeating yourself....!(ha-ha) Anyway, though it looks like a mid-70s issue, it is from 1971 and follows, by roughly a year, the British Regal/Starline issue.

Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | As stated in notes, this is the Australian first issue of this album, submitted for purpose of comparison with the British, 1970 release, and the later Australian Axis re-issue. If anyone has a British MFP version or an Australian issue with the "Drum" logo on it, please upload it. RC, note the label colour, a dingy green(not an appetising shade, ay!).

Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | Connie Francis's version of "My Happiness" came out in 1959. Presley's non-commercial recording for his mother would've dated from around 1952 or 1953, but certainly before 1955. So another male or female artist may have recorded the song prior to Francis's version.

Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | Hi, Phil, I have the same album(on cassette) but pre-Drum series. I also have the original Chartbusters Vol.5 but on CD, issued by Polygram but using the EMI cover artwork(reduced to CD jewel-case size) but they only used the front cover artwork. Anyhow looks like the Drum series covered Tamla-Motown as well. Funny, I never struck any but obviously you have. Cheers!

Neil Forbes 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | @RC, you're referring to the "Gold Edge" series title "Diana Ross & The Supremes Plus", I expect. I have that album but the MFP Gold Edge seemed a very short-lived series. I know of only one other LP in that series, featuring Simon & Garfunkel, a ten-track compilation carrying a regular CBS label design but a Gold Edge serial number.
