Rolf Harris - Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport
At least in Canada Rolf was on the correct label! Should've been on Capitol in the USA too but ended up on the lesser CBS-Epic label instead!
By the way, B5 composer should be "Mack" - unless someone's "having a dig"!

Neil Diamond - Gold Diamond
Hi Phil, how goes it? Decca handling Bang until 1976? Curious. As I said, I thought CBS may have had the Bang rights. Aah well... Missed it by that much! It's interesting though, that eventually, both Bang and Monument would be swallowed by CBS, but CBS was being, in its turn, swallowed up by Sony(gulp.... burp!) Monument in Australia, I don't think the label had any physical presence in Australia prior to 1967. All Monument stuff prior to that time would've been(including Roy Orbison's output) on the London label, which EMI was pressing and distributing. Interestingly, both London(EMI) and Monument(Festival) were carrying Roy Orbison content. London had singles and some LPs, Monument had EPs(and likely some LPs as well). Monument continuing through the 1970s, possibly. I know the label issued Billy Swan's I Can Help in 1974 but beyond that..... ?????

Neil Diamond - Gold Diamond
The thought that anybody could do such a thing to an LP of an artist such as Neil Diamond, makes my blood boil! The worst of it is that recently on Australian commercial TV an ad for a chocolate bar called "Cherry Ripe" has been appearing with Neil Diamond's "Cherry, Cherry" in the soundtrack... that REALLY makes me ANGRY~ Classic rock and pop songs should be PROTECTED from such wanton abuse!

Various Artists - The Tamla-Motown Sound!
EMI Australia would do this as well. For instance, Motown Chartbusters Vol.5 would become Motown Giants in Australia with the deletion of 4 tracks and Motown Chartbusters Vol.6 would become an Axis LP called "It's Summer with deletions and changes to a few tracks. How many of EMI's other divisions also did this, I wonder.

Thanks for that, 55Bluesman! I saw the "Club-Sonderauflage"(Club Special Issue) on the label but thought Phonogram might've had the issue in its usual(for that time) numbering system but might've had a special "series number prefix" set aside for these releases.(the four digits at the beginning of these numbers are generally, I believe, a 'series' number, the following three numbers are the album's number within that series, method applied also to singles and cassettes).

Manfred Mann - The Greatest Hits Of Manfred Mann
This is the same as the Axis Australian issue, about the same time. The Aussie number was AXIS-6087. The Axis issue, based on the number, might've been earlier(guessing), perhaps, 1971, which might mean the Brit. issue came later, but, as I said, I'm just guessing.

I find it somewhat odd that this 1972-issued LP would be using an earlier numbering system(5 digits in a two-digit followed by three-digit format) when Phonogram was using, at that time, a 4-digit/3-digit numbering format for both singles, LPs and cassettes. Is this LP a 1972 reissue using its original number from the 1960s?

Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind
Aah Gordon Lightfoot! MM, you'd be surprised as to who had recorded his compositions BEFORE we got to know him via this song in 1971, about a year after the release of this LP. Peter, Paul & Mary(For Lovin' Me), Marty Robbins(Ribbon Of Darkness), Glen Campbell(Wherefore & Why), and how many others had also done their own versions of those songs, and how many other artists/groups have drawn from Gordon Lightfoot's pool of compositions?
Yep! You have indeed found a treasure!

The Isley Brothers - This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You)
Title track once referred to on Port Stephens FM, here in Australia as "The Angina Song". I was in the studio at the time when the presenter(Lyla McMullen, on her This Way To Soul programme) said it and I near fell off my chair with laughter - It cracked me up, especially her dead-pan delivery!

RC's comment: "Some of these tracks appeared various ktel and emi albums" - They've caught the recycling bug, that's all! By the way, on Paloma Blanca, the composer's name was misspelt. It's actually Bouwens, Johannes Bouwens, to be precise, the group's lead singer, the "George Baker" in this "Selection".

Bill Haley And His Comets - Shake Rattle And Roll / A.B.C. Boogie
Likely this could be Danish or Swedish, going by the boxed "NCB" at the bottom of the label.

Joe Jackson - Night And Day
On this or any other album shown on this site, with a few exceptions, it could be "taken as read" that whoever uploaded the cover art(and labels, on occasion), would be the "OWNER" of that album. Such is the case with what I've thus far uploaded, those albums are from my personal collection. But I have to say at this point, that regrettably there'll be no further uploads for a while, so I can build up a data reserve(spare gigabytes). I'll still come on-line here to look at and participate in discussions about various albums, but until I can build up a sizeable reserve of gigabytes of useable data for uploading, I have to refrain from uploads for the time being.

Bobby Taylor - Taylor Made Soul
Cussincarryinoon02, Cheers! (and also thanks to BandBox244). I managed to record this LP into MP3 format some years ago(timely, as it turned out, because the disc has since been damaged and is now unplayable - awwww!) From those MP3s I burned a CD of the album. My pick of the tracks are "Out In The Country", "My Girl Has Gone" and a longish, somewhat dramatic version of "Eleanor Rigby".

Yes to the label design, RC, but no to having the boxed C.C.(copyright Control) on the label. And yes, this would be a 1980s re-issue from EMI's Greek division.

Hallo, Darktownjunkie!

Not so much laughing, more like simply Laugh Cabinet, RC. This LP is a collection of comedy pieces, spoken(or sung, in a few cases, perhaps) in German.

Dusty Springfield - A Brand New Me
I've noticed the deleted defective cover(the one with the tear which obliterated alf of Dusty's picture. I'm happy I was able to provide a better version of the rear cover, with all due respects, of course, to dvdmike who uploaded this originally. Thanks also to our ever-diligent moderator! Cheers!
Also note the issue date for this LP, midway through January, 1970, which means the sessions for this album took place during mid-to-late 1969. I have the title cut on a single, the B-side of that single sits at A2 on the LP, frankly it's the better track, "Bad Case Of The Blues", good, up-tempo R. & B rocker! Dusty was one of only three white performers who could do soul music, the other two were Doug Parkinson and Renee Geyer, both Aussies!

The Jackson 5 - Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5
This LP should've by rights had the title "Bobby Taylor Presents The Jackson 5". After all, it WAS Taylor, not Ross, who really discovered this group. Bobby Taylor is still bitter - and quite rightly so - about being denied due recognition here for discovering the J-5. Being given the production credit for the LP does not make up in any way for being denied proper recognition for discovery of a major talent.

The Beach Boys - Little Deuce Coupe
Hi, Droid. On school reunions, they do occasionally happen but it's not really the done thing in Australia(and no, I've never been to one myself). As for the hype and bullshit, I was referring to this habit of using terms like Freshman(first year student) and Sophomore(second year student). These clearly are pretentious bullshit terms, at least they are to Aussie ears! We simply called ourselves first year, or second year students!

The Dirt Band - An American Dream
I originally took the title song from this LP to be of 1980 vintage. Guess I'll have to file this under the "Maxwell Smart Moments" file, you know, "Missed it by tha-a-a-at much, chief!"(ha-ha).

I'm familiar with these two as well. I have a 45 of Vicki Leandros, "Ich Hab' Die Liebe Geseh'n" paired with "Augen Wie Feuer", Ironically, the single is a Dutch pressing. The titles translate as(in order), "I Have Seen The Love" and "Eyes Like Fire". Leandros's best-known hit in Australia was in 1972, "Come What May".

Funny thing here, writing in German, if I type "lesen", which is the German verb to "read", Spell-check jumps in and sticks an extra 's' in the word, thinking I'm tying "lessen" - to decrease. Spell-check can be a bloody nuisance sometimes! (Ugh!)

Hallo, Darktownjunkie! Doh!
Viel Gruße! Bis nachstes mal.

I think I might be able to decipher the comments here, Droid! The 39266(assuming the catalogue number is a special series - guess) Stereo LP cover has the words Litho'd(meaning Lithographed, a method of printing) along the side(of the cover), just below the "Dome" in the Capitol trademark. That's as best as I can decipher Tokenhippie's comment, and for Record Dragon's comment(almost a year ago), He was referring to the track "Be True To Your School"(sentiments I, as an Australian, consider ridiculous*) as being an album version with extra sound effects(cheerleaders) added to the mix.

*I regard the sentiments as ridiculous as school was somewhere you had to be from the age of 5 to at least 15, by law. for that reason we in Australia never held our schools, primary or secondary, in any kind of esteem. We didn't go in for all the American hype and bullshit.
