But there are some good (remastered) recordings available on YouTube. According to the late Eddie Shaw's D.A.T.E.S. numbers up to R.874 were issued in 1930. As you may discover, both sides must have been recorded in 1930 (which is possibly the more relevant).

According to the late Eddie Shaw's D.A.T.E.S. numbers up to R.874 were issued in 1930. As you may discover, both sides must have been recorded in 1930 (which is possibly the more relevant).

Not 1937 ! Please correct the date. As you can see already stated, both sides recorded in 1930 (which is possibly the more relevant).

It so happens the label of the same title is missing from the 'Linked Release' (on Publix) so I can't determine the matrix no. (which is the same on both).

(I'll check out the matrix nos. with the same two titles on other American labels.) Definitely she recorded with Ferera - I have one on U.K. Regal - "Pagan Love Song".

(Some tracks seem to need an LP stylus to track properly; others obviously play well with the 78 stylus which is thicker. The grooves look very fine unlike the old 78s.)

I have "Idle On Parade (from the soundtrack of the film)" CP.2066 (on both labels). The other side is CP.2065. Wonder which is which? Not played it yet. Was "Idle Rock-A-Boogie" actually the A-side? Who knows? (And who cares.) I shall have to consult ww.45cat for F.11137.

liskeard78s 27th Jul 2023		78 RPM Elvis Presley With The Jordanaires - Baby I Don't Care / Young And Beautiful (1957)	I have this 78. You say '1957' but the J matrix code = 1958, this issue at least. (In case anyone wonders, D4,D5,D6 = 1944,45,46, &c.; E2,E3,E4,F2 = 1952,53,54,55; G=56, H=57, J=58, K=59, L=60, M=61, N=62, P=63, R=64, S=65, T=66, and so on up to 1972 when they got bored with it.. Found this info in "Vinyl Dave's Book of Favourite Record Labels" - I can confirm those numbers. (Sometimes an old recording can have a later matrix code, e.g. especially with regard to Jim Reeves, as each disc has its own matrix no.)
liskeard78s 27th Jul 2023		78 RPM Duane Eddy - The Lonely One / Detour (1959)	I have this 78 - a Canadian pressing, not U.S.A., surely? (Bought from the same lot as 2 other Canadian 78s - the pressings and labels look very similar. Admittedly, the others have 'Canada' on the labels.)
liskeard78s 23rd Jul 2023		78 RPM The Beatles - Hey Jude / Revolution (1968)	Thomas Edison - yes it was he! - made a short (experimental) series of long playing 78s in 1926. You had to buy a new record player to play them! - I now have four of the damn things - two 10'' ones play for 12 mins. per side (as stated on the labels) and the two 12" ones are supposed to play for 20 !! mins. per side. Haven't yet managed to check one. Fine grooves??? > Now, just take any modern 33 rpm LP and play it at 78. See if you can find one that plays for 20 mins.!!!!!

liskeard78s 9th Mar 2023		78 RPM Ruth Etting - Take My Heart	This appears to be a duplicate listing. (Maybe two different 'takes' of the same song. If so, maybe the two should be linked.) Re. the note about re-issue, this was usually how the company got noise-free recordings for transcription to L.P. back then.
