Whyperion SUBS 12th Oct 2019 | | 78 RPMVera Lynn - I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire / There's A Land Of Begin Again (1941) | Redpunk, my label seems a darker blue. Either there were hue changes over time, or were different batches distributed to different dealer areas (some labels seem similar in the North West, others in London/SE)?

|
Whyperion SUBS 12th Oct 2019 | | 78 RPMFrankie Laine - Jezebel / Rose, Rose, I Love You (1951) | Columbia must have pressed 1000s of these. My one acquired today has neat label with the two publisher credits and crisp D T Tax Code Slug on the Rosie Side- opposite to some others here. Unlikely to scan as dont want to break it.
|
Whyperion SUBS 12th Oct 2019 | | 78 RPMFrankie Laine - Jealousy / Flamenco (1951) | Redpunk, are your labels smaller than the 'normal' 10in Columbia of this era? Just got a lovely one today and they appear smaller than I am used to, nice and crisp one.

Whyperion SUBS 9th Jun 2019 | | 78 RPMNew Light Symphony Orchestra - Barcarolle (1926) | On value
https://www.45worlds.com/78rpm/record/17311 apparently less than a dollar at a guess.
Audio here from A.L,2059 (Which I think is the Czech series of numbering for some european issues. I think Kimbozw catelogue is putting A/B in alphabetical order as the YT has Cavalleria as the A side as Graham and I had put on entry (following matrix convention when in doubt).
Both staple tracks from Radio 2's missed Your 100 Best Tunes on a Sunday Night.

Whyperion SUBS 9th Jun 2019 | | 78 RPMNew Light Symphony Orchestra - Barcarolle (1926) | JJ interested in the idea of some repressings having lower audio quality, what would be the masters that would be re-created from on later HMV and similar generally be sourced from ? Like some of the EMI group EPs Quality did not always seem to be their number one priority.

Whyperion SUBS 8th Jun 2019 | | 78 RPMNoel Coward - Mad Dogs And Englishmen / Let's Say Goodbye (1932) | The final school I attended as a pupil had a headmaster - and I learnt more of his background from comments of old boys on friendsreunited and in an anniversary publication which part explained his (possibly exagerated) eccentrities, something I only appreciated in hind-sight. If not quite a confirmed batchelor, he had a seeming aversion to the female gender in some ways, yet worked well with all teachers in the school productions that I thought were normal for all schools of that age group, with evening cabaret reviews and mini-dramas performed termly in which the boys (and sometimes borrowed girls (but not when I was there) from one or two nearby other institutions) participated along with selected interested staff members. Normally 'walking' does not quite explain it, down the centre of the aisle in twice weekly school assembly, sometimes atopped with mortar board, chalk billowing from a seemingly permanently semi-attached gown moving in take-off mode. Addresses to the assembly oft undertaken leaning half over the lecturn, arm of spectacles part being chewed and a masterful delivery in part Will Hay (but with intelligence) and part Noel Coward. In the reviews his party piece was "Mad Dogs" and complemented his mastery of history as a whole, and appreciation of an era 20 years prior and worlds away from the punk reality of popular culture of the time.

Sleeve was Frence too. My copy is UK made/sold in UK, so images could go to a french edition, but it appears most were sourced from UK ?
