It's interesting that Rum And Coca-Cola was a B-side only in the UK - and only understandable if you factor in the foreseeable radio ban. It's even more interesting that this became the most successful of all Andrew Sisters recordings in the USA despite the ban of all major radio networks there.

They were very risque at times - they did a song called Strip Polka! - so i would equate them to Atomic Kitten, except with talent...

Well, I know some 25 years later some bloke named Ray Davies was forced to change a line in one of his song lyrics from "Coca-Cola" to "cherry cola" because of the BBC's ban on advertising references. As well as a certain Paul Simon record being banned by them because its very title was advertising.

But it indeed also didn't help about the "mother and daughter" storyline, which in a way made this the "Me So Horny" of its day.

I believe the BBC banned this because of the mention of the fizzy drink, but I would have thought that the storyline of 'mother and daughter' did'nt help. It was No.One for ten weeks on the Billboard chart from Jan. 6 1945.
