| | When the American version of this record was first released, Ruth Wallis did not claim the authorship of the two songs. Also of some interest is that the mx number shown on that disc was not 105-2 as shown on this disc, but 101. A disc bearing a revised label was subsequently circulated in America on which Ruth Wallis claimed her composer credits and the 105-2 mx was substituted. This Canadian label appears to be a "missing link" between the two, as it has the new matrix number but, as of yet, Wallis is not identified as the composer of the songs. While these two songs were featured on Ruth Wallis' first record on her own label, it seems unlikely that this Canadian version can claim to be the very first such release, and, in view of the mx change, it is possible that it does not actually contain the same two specific recordings as the first release. Does anybody know if there was a Canadian counterpart to the fisrt "no credits/101 mx" release? |

| | Given that Billboard magazines from 1949 list The Admiral's Daughter on Wallis Original, and given that releases occur in the USA and Canada simultaneously in almost all cases, I feel it is best to move this back to 1949. I think that the tracks may not have appeared on 45 until 1952, hence the confusion.
Further given the fact that The Dinghy Song was released on DeLuxe 1183 in 1948 as her last tracks at DeLuxe it seems unlikely that she'd waited until 1952 to release new records |

| | Well -- it looks like Wallis Original 2006 (4-F Papa) was out in the USA in June 1951. The earliest Billboard reference looks to be 15 July 1950

| | Well, now we have to unravel how a record could be advertised for sale on a label that didn't exist until the following year. According to multiple sources of documentation, including Ruth Wallis herself, her husband Hy Pastman and his business partner from DeLuxe Records, Joe Liebowitz, are on record as having founded the company in 1952. Her sessionography doesn't indicate that this record, or any of the ones following it were recorded any earlier. How do we get to the bottom of this conundrum? |

| | It was operating in USA much earlier than 1952. That's probably where the 1949 date comes from.
When the label was started in other countries is a different question.
March 1951 Billboard has a mention of a release with a much later number that those shown on that packet. |

| | According to multiple sites on the web, the Wallis Original label was started in 1952, so the other sites listing this record in 1949 are erroneous. |
