Thanks Keith. Both sources don't help unfortunately.
CONQUEROR 9000 – 9960 (1938 – 1941) only shows recording dates, just like The Online (78rpm) Discographical Project.
Roy Acuff Singles gives only release months (12/1/38 actually meaning 1 December 1938, not 12 January 1938) but still does not settle any doubts about the current Dec 1938 date.

For instance Conqueror, sold exclusively through Sears, Roebuck & Co., was a "dime store label", like Banner, Melotone, Oriole, Perfect and Romeo, all products of the ARC (American Record Corporation). So it is safe to assume that Conqueror #9121 was a later reissue of the original Vocalion record (04466, from Nov 1938), like #9122 and #9123 that were obvious reissues of previously released Vocalion sides.

January 1937 here but every record he made seems to listed as January

Yet another story here

xiphophilos, as you have corrected the release date from 1939 to Dec 1938, didn't you see the previous discussion? It is very unlikely that Conqueror 9121 was released in Dec 1938 when Conqueror 9118 was only recorded in Feb 1939.
[No, I didn't. Have now changed release year to 1939, which makes more sense then. Xip.]

Well, that's true. But we do know that it's not from 1936.

Hi Mike Gann, as far as I evaluate Rocky 52 they may have copied the date from Praguefrank who decidedly guesses release months when they have no reliable information (like we do here sometimes). 1939 is definitely a safer bet (see again Conqueror 9118, recorded in Feb 1939).

Rocky 52 shows a release date of December, 1938 if you want to take that ball and run with it.

Not released in 1936 as it was entered, and apparently not released in Dec 1938 as Praguefrank suggests. As Conqueror was a budget reissue label, a 1939 reissue of the original Vocalion sides seems natural (see also Feb 1939 recording date of previous Conqueror cat# 9118 on ODP).
