| | Very interesting and well researched Review, but must still say thank you Marion Harris for your lovely singing- you gave the song the amusement the lyrics demanded. |

| | Just for the record, I had not only already listed the exact same page that you quote in the Notes above, the page number 8 was also hyperlinked (thus the blue font). And if someone manages to disfigure the title of an apparently beloved record with three typos in the same upload, I can't help but "moan", as grateful as I indeed am for the upload. |

| | Searching t'internet brings up the rather good australian local newspapers scanned and entered onto Trove.
Discussing prices of Columbia, Regal and Zonophone and mentioning Debroy Somers with a couple of recent issues.
So The Examiner (Launceston, Tasmania (Collection from 1900 - 1954) Wed 20 Jan 1932 Page 8 Gramophone Notes http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/51722954 which gives the Regal Number as G21074. Perhaps the person commenting on YouTube recently might like to be a little less moany about the uploader as grateful the audio is there in any shape, form, or typo! (A side title....!!!) (Ahh, notice notes here updated with the Examiner info, but I have noted the source for the link, hope that is helpful for other reviewers for other records if they have the time and patience.) |

| | After 4 years and more than a dozen edits, I think we've got this entry finally where it should be. I assume the original submitter didn't actually have the record in front of him, and that's why it was originally listed with a wrong catalog number and without a B side. Thanks to our Australian member JCL135 for providing the correct cat.-nr. and a source. I've also added a Youtube video of the B side to Whyperion's original comment.
One proviso: The British release misspells Ted Koehler's last name as Kohler. I didn't have access to a label image either, so I can only assume the Australian version does this too.
Lyrics by Ted Koehler and Eddie Pola, music by Jack Golden
(In the much-shortened version as sung by Don Donovan)
(slightly adapted from http://lyricsplayground.com)
Since making whoopee became all the rage
It's even got to the old birdcage,
My canary has circles under his eyes.
He used to whistle "The Prisoner's Song."
Now he does snake-hips the whole day long.
My poor canary has circles under his eyes!
His only pals are the yellow lark,
And just a tiny sparrow.
But I am scared when he's in the park
He leaves the straight and narrow.
I've raised this birdie in manner so strict,
Yet I've a feeling I'm being tricked.
'Cause my canary has circles under his eyes.
I love Marion Harris' version too, although I think Debroy Somers chose a better tempo for the song:

Apparently it's not in any of the UK Regal listings. |

Didn't Columbia (Gramophone Company) take on Regal and Zonophone , but kept the Regal label for re-issues at cheaper prices ? Note the Columbia UK Matrix matches the Regal one in the comments here, |
