Jock_Girl said:Does anyone know if this ever appeared on a red label Parlophone as did this release (R 4212) of Humph's from the same year? Not in the UK - Bad Penny Blues was so sucessful that Parlophone released Humph's next on red label 'popular'

Hi have a copy of Humph's UK bad penny blues on the blue label, never seen it on the red label.
To go to a good home if anyone would like it.

There was an export issue 45rpm, but I don't know if there was a 78rpm equivalent.

Not mentioned here yet is that this was the first hit record produced by Joe Meek.

Anyone know of any non-UK issues of the record. I have searched for a US or Canadian release to no avail.

Of course the riff in The Beatles' Lady Madonna is a direct descendant of Bad Penny Blues.
