I have merged to the original entry, and changed the title to match what is on the book's spine and title page (the latter which I can't scan without breaking the binding). Though note, Bantam's printing history mentions the earlier Dobson and Corgi editions.

My copy had the benefit of being 'free', though received third- (or even fourth-) hand, so, already well-used. Still, the pages all seem intact. The comic strips detail incidents in the lives of pre-WWI colonists in German East Africa. Hans und Fritz (esp. in relation to der Captain) may have inspired Bart Simpson.

(the images above were scanned originally at 300px) and assemble as a PDF file, but I don't want to destroy the book in the process.

I've added the original title as the 'English Title'. With a correction to the Italian edition's author name, the two now link.

annaloog ● 30th May 2022		Book Kingsley Amis - Jake's Thing (1979)	No USA price for this, so I presume that my copy is a UK printing (could be Canadian), despite having purchased this for cheap in a USA chain store (67c, SupeRx), way back in 1982. As a legchair linguist, I recall being more than a little amused at the time at Amis' depiction of Oxonian dialect/accent.

Fortunately, the text is not printed in Fraktur, so it's much easier to read.

It is the 1961 reprint (which I take to mean 2nd printing), which I purchased in a second-hand shop in Burbank, California, in 1987. I have included the Contents page, with list of the individual stories.

annaloog ● 23rd May 2022		Book Irish Stamps - Little Books Of Ireland (1990)	A pocket-size book, which depicts the postage stamps of the Republic of Ireland, beginning with the 1922 UK overprints. Unfortunately, the images appear in no particular order, and are neither dated nor numbered, so this is more a souvenir or a curiosity than a guide for the philatelist. Other topics in this "Little Books" series include Irish cottages, pubs, castles, post offices, proverbs, etc.
