annaloog ● 15th Jun 2022 | | BookJohn Carnell - New Writings In SF 7 (1971) | Thanks for that info. I have merged to the original entry, and changed the title to match what is on the book's spine and title page (the latter which I can't scan without breaking the binding). Though note, Bantam's printing history mentions the earlier Dobson and Corgi editions.

annaloog ● 14th Jun 2022 | | BookJohn Carnell - New Writings In SF 7 (1971) | This is, possibly, the same as the imageless entry here, although the title is slightly different, and it is not linked to the canon. If that can be established, the entries can then be merged and linked.
mod edit: duplicate entry merged with original

annaloog ● 11th Jun 2022 | | BookJoe Musial - The Katzenjammer Kids (1970) | Cover printed with the spine at top. My copy had the benefit of being 'free', though received third- (or even fourth-) hand, so, already well-used. Still, the pages all seem intact. The comic strips detail incidents in the lives of pre-WWI colonists in German East Africa. Hans und Fritz (esp. in relation to der Captain) may have inspired Bart Simpson.

annaloog ● 11th Jun 2022 | | BookFyodor Dostoyevsky - Roman in neun Briefen (1920) | My copy is, as you might imagine, quite fragile. I would like to scan every page in high res. (the images above were scanned originally at 300px) and assemble as a PDF file, but I don't want to destroy the book in the process.

annaloog ● 8th Jun 2022 | | BookO. Henry - Cabbages And Kings (1946) | My copy's cover has a clear plastic laminate, just beginning to peel at the corners. The colors on the spine have faded with time and exposure to light.

annaloog ● 6th Jun 2022 | | BookBruno Fischer - Stripped For Murder (1953) | I can't quite discern the cover artist's name from the signature ... it looks like it might be 'Carl Roberts' (?)
I've added the original title as the 'English Title'. With a correction to the Italian edition's author name, the two now link.

annaloog ● 30th May 2022 | | BookKingsley Amis - Jake's Thing (1979) | No USA price for this, so I presume that my copy is a UK printing (could be Canadian), despite having purchased this for cheap in a USA chain store (67c, SupeRx), way back in 1982. As a legchair linguist, I recall being more than a little amused at the time at Amis' depiction of Oxonian dialect/accent.
annaloog ● 30th May 2022 | | BookFyodor Dostoyevsky - Roman in neun Briefen (1920) | One of the dozen or so old books (100+ years) in my collection, purchased for a dime way back in the early 1970s, though not in the best condition even then. Fortunately, the text is not printed in Fraktur, so it's much easier to read.

annaloog ● 27th May 2022 | | BookBrian Aldiss - Penguin Science Fiction (1961) | My well-used copy has the "Penguin orange', in contrast to the more red tint as shown in the main image [#1868805]. It is the 1961 reprint (which I take to mean 2nd printing), which I purchased in a second-hand shop in Burbank, California, in 1987. I have included the Contents page, with list of the individual stories.

annaloog ● 25th May 2022 | | BookJules Verne - The Begum's Fortune (2003) | Adding the French language "English title" (copied from the Romanian edition) does link the two, but shows the earlier Romanian ed. as the primary ... this may need some work (or, perhaps, an entry for the 'original' 1879 publication).

annaloog ● 23rd May 2022 | | BookIrish Stamps - Little Books Of Ireland (1990) | A pocket-size book, which depicts the postage stamps of the Republic of Ireland, beginning with the 1922 UK overprints. Unfortunately, the images appear in no particular order, and are neither dated nor numbered, so this is more a souvenir or a curiosity than a guide for the philatelist.
Other topics in this "Little Books" series include Irish cottages, pubs, castles, post offices, proverbs, etc.
