ppint. 12th Apr 2017		CD Album Jack Bruce - Shadows In The Air (2001)	apollo59: if you have SMRCD 142 (5050749214225), please enter it as a new item; the label it is on is liable to be "sanctuary midline", and whether it should be flagged "uk" or "europe" depends on what can be deduced of where it was intended by sanctuary music group to go on sale - the uk, presumably, but if the disc or the printed-paper & card inserts, booklet (if any), etc. bear "sacem" and/or "biem", and/or "stemra" °, or if there's an address in the small print for a continental european distributor, then award it a "european" rather than a "uk" flag.°° ° - other 45/33/78/cd-catters know much more about the mechanical performance, publishing and siimilar rights & royalties collection agencies, and how they work - but the presence of any of above ones are a dead give-away that a uk music co. expected and intended their "product" to be distributed to record & cd shops, music shops, department stores, supermarkets etc. in continental europe as well as in the uk of gb & ni (and usually also the republic of ireland). °° - and no, this isn't necessarily the country of manufacture; it mayn't even be the country in which the inserts were printed

ppint. 7th Apr 2017		CD Album Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band - Live/1975-85 (1986)	they're essentially part numbers, for the people assembling the sets correctly and/or for the people restocking the storage bins on racking, for smaller quantities to be abstracted from correctly for the assemblers. everything has to have a part number, and frequently either its own bar-code or, at least, the smallest box or sealed bag of them orderable has to have its bar-code - else it cannot be tracked - or, sometimes, ever found again. . .

(and fwiw the songs' composers are given quite conveniently for anyone cataloguing this album on a website such as, e.g, 45worlds.com, on the printed inserts of every edition of the cd and upon the labels and card sleeves of the lp yr hmbl srppnt.'s ever seen: since it is decidedly less work for this to be done by the contributor as part of entering the album, than for anyone else afterwards, especially when much of this data repeats from one track to another: it would be more considerate to do so when contributing an item.)

ppint. 15th Mar 2017		CD Album John Coltrane - A Love Supreme (2003)	n.b. should not be linked to pre-2003 digital masterings (incl. cds)° as they share three flaws which this remaster from a 3/65 master tape discovered in emi london's vault does not possess (left channel first three minutes of "pursuance") and to which it had not been subjected (equalisation and compression). ° - yr hmbl srppnt. does not know whether releases subsequent to this follow this, or the earlier, flawed mastering(s). (the antibes live recording is completely separate, of course.)

( i do not know, but i s'spect that bmg might've begun the process to free themselves from having to pay ge/general electric company for the licence to use rca, victor, rca victor - or even "rcavictor". . .) (& "cdcat"'s international flag isn't very accurate a tool, but would seem to be called for when a release is, or appears to be, designed for sale in any two or more of: yeurrp, merkia, xxxxia, asia, japan, singapore-(?malaysia?)-indonesia (& -?-), & (?southern?) africa.): it may need serious revision.)

ppint. 7th Mar 2017		CD Album Mantovani Orchestra - The World Of Mantovani • Great Classical Themes (1993)	mantovani retired in 1975, taking the parts for his orchestral arrangements with him (he died in 1980). i understand that quite a lot of unauthorised material has appeared on cd under his name since - including both genuine recordings deemed in his lifetime not of a quality suitable for public commercial release, for whatever reason - but also recordings with which he was not involved at all. n.b. nor this cd, nor any of the tracks, is credited to mantovani and his orchestra. i do not know whether this compilation is of genuine recordings by mantovani and his orchestra. recordings originally released by decca records, decca house, 9 albert embankment, london se1 (and on recordings licenced from decca) on decca & london record label lps, eps, singles & cassettes in his lifetime, and transfers to cd made by decca (and by polygram since it purchased decca, and any by universal since it purchased polygram) from these decca recordings are genuine: i do not know if any other recordings are, and would appreciate authoritative advice.
