CD Album
P. P. Arnold - The First Cut (2001)
(submitted as a correction immediately upon reviewing the entry) notes: track 28's original appearance was on castle showcase shlp 157 (this tablettything's editor's auto-mis-correct-after-the-word's-been-completed-and-moved-on-from bug^W "feature" struck. again...

- my notes: section was anonymously erratically re-written, re-punctuated & re-paragraphed. dunno why.
no responsibility is nor can be accepted by yr hmbl srppnt. for any and inaccuracies and/or errors introduced thereby.

CD Album
Emmylou Harris And The Hot Band - Amazing Grace Coffee House (2015)

Björk - Debut (1993)
is it worth mentioning in "notes", that the "b. gudmundsdóttir" of the composer credits is björk ?

CD Album
Chubby Checker - The Ultimate Collection – 16 All Time Classics (1995)
and the songs' composers are handily all listed in the folded-paper front insert - especially for the contributor's convenience...

9th May 2015
CD Album
Duster Bennett - I Choose To Sing The Blues Rare & Unreleased Recordings Volume One 1968-1971 (1998)
track 12 has two songs, listed as (12) A. (composers, holiday & charles) and (12) B. (composer, dixon). (clarification also submitted as a correction.)

9th May 2015
CD Album
Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band - Safe As Milk (1999)
mine came with a yellow sticker bearing the bmg/rca/buddah eu cat#, asking, "got beefheart?" and proclaiming "one of the most important rock albums of all time." -tricycle / "one of the most extraordinary debut albums in history." -rough guide to rock / "newly mastered with 7 BONUS TRACKS / features 20-year-old RY COODER / (octagonal white-on-red STOP! sign.)
- and it just about justified the hype, "way back in 1967", too. it's still my favourite beefheart lp, though i didn't buy it at the time; cass did, so i didn't need to - and ££ were few, so we tended not to overlap (and trusted each other to look after borrowed/lent records, too).

8th May 2015
CD Album
Tori Amos - Boys For Pele (1996)
my listing of the members of the gospel choir includes a couple of queries, where the type is impossible to read in this light. i'll update it via corrections once i've been able to read it under stronger & whiter light.

11/5/15 ok; for "mark cadbury" read "mark sterling"°, not necessarily any relation to the closely propinquant marvin sterling, and after "sam berfect" add "jack trimble".
(° - it still looks like "cadbury" even knowing that that is wrong, now i'm back under the eric bartholemew's lights, and away from bright sunshine.)
(submitted as a correction.)

CD Album
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes (1991)
front insert booklet gives full listing of musicians, including tori amos, on each track, and details the instruments they're playing, backing vocalists, recording engineers, mixers, and producers (as well as complete song lyrics), so these can easily be provided by the contributor.

7th May 2015
CD Album
P. P. Arnold - The First Cut (2001)
the song, "letter to bill", seems to've been published by immediate; but i've not come across the songwriter, listed only as "mark", before - anycd,lp,ep,singleORtapecatter out there know aught about him, her or it?

7th May 2015
CD Album
Tori Amos - Under The Pink (1994)
includes front insert booklet giving not only full song lyrics, but also acknowledging tori amos band musicians and their instruments, track by track, plus backing musicians, where any - and the album's two producers.

CD Album
The Allman Brothers Band - S.U.N.Y. At Stonybrook Stonybrook, NY 9/19/71 (2003)
noooo! it's the self-effacing, self-erasing, self-releasing song composers striking again!

edit 5/2021: composers - and required corrections - provided by courtesy of quicksilver

CD Album
The Allman Brothers Band - Win, Lose Or Draw (1998)
"the allman brothers band remasters - newly 20-bit remastered from the original master tapes" in circular sticker on front of jewel case; " * capricorn classics * " on reverse of back insert, showing through transparent hinge gutter next to the front insert. my copy: disc mfd in germany by pmdc. could this actually be an eu edition?

Small Faces - Greatest Hits (1997)

CD Album
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick And Tich - The Best Of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick And Tich (1995)
identical spectrum cat#, bar-code no; front insert photo reduced to monochrome and reversed l-r to give a mirror image, typographics redone & printed in a pale orange; back insert reversed out and a sideways compressed image of the monochrome front photo used to replace the 3 colour photos, typographics around and to the side of the bar-code redone in the same pale orange, and track 11 title reset as "OK!", disc printed nigh illegibly in pale orange on a white background;
this compilation ©1995 spectrum music ©1998 spectrum music, a division of polygram record operations ltd. (goes on to say the © in these sound recordings is owned by mercury records ltd. (london) and all the individual tracks are so-noted, together with the dates they were released by philips (uk) - not mercury - on the fontana label - tut-tut!

track 9 should be attributed, as it is in the album notes by mark brennan, to dave dee alone, whilst
track 13 should be attributed to "d, b, m & t" (dozy, beaky, mick and tich without dave dee).

front insert notes para 2 line 1 tyops "finest" for "first", contradicting the album title implicitly...

CD Album
The Scaffold - The Very Best Of The Scaffold (1998)
i've just last night noticed that the back insert lists track 11, "liverpool lou", as ©1974 by (emi's) parlophone. i don't know anywhere this was released as a parlophone rather than a warner bros. single, and copyright by some part or other of the kinney/warner behemoth, so its inclusion on the cd may have been an error.

CD Album
Paul Robeson - The Great Paul Robeson (1999)
the "goldie's" cd label is listed both as an eu label, and also as a portuguese label - but, while portugal is the country of manufacture of the examples i've seen, there's no indication they're intended solely, or even mainly for the portuguese market.

i suspect the two should be unified as one eu label listing.

CD Album
The Scaffold - The Very Best Of The Scaffold (1998)
track 8, "stop blowing those charity bubbles": the parlophone single, r5784, has this as simply "charity bubbles" on its a-side label. (& i don't know whether the cd's is the single, or the lp version of the song.)

CD Album
The Byrds - (Untitled) / (Unissued) (2000)
20-bit remastering (or mastering, presumably, where not previously mastered), insert booklet includes (reduced) original lp gatefold sleeve-covering art, original liner notes by derek taylor, new liner notes looking back across thirty years by david fricke, notes on both cds' individual tracks by johnny rogan (author of the byrds' biography, "timeless flight revisited":
i was delighted to find this new for the price of a single cd, just a year after reluctantly deciding against paying full price for, essentially, just the contents of the second cd.

3rd May 2015
CD Album
Booker T. And The MG's - Soul Limbo (1990)
may be an eu, or even an intl. cd, as only merkia & canadada're specifically excluded. no date except that of original vinyl album's release given (and claimed as date (p) & © fantasy, inc.).

CD Album
Joni Mitchell - Song To A Seagull (2000)
joni mitchell's cover art from the original 1968 album cover still bears the warner-7arts/reprise logo (and the original lp cat#, (rs/rslp) "6293") centrally, in chief.

CD Album
John Martyn - Well Kept Secret (1997)
surnames "nocito" and "thornalley" are best guesstimates from a very fine-lined, very condensed, fairly low point-sized font: corrections and/or confirmations welcome.

philmh: many thanks.

CD Album
Dusty Springfield - The Early Years (2014)
disc1 has 33 tracks, and disc 2, 32; the five that would not fit into the track-listing fields submitted as corrections.

- and disc 1 done - thank-you, o semi-divine being.

Mod: Sorted

- indeed; many thanks, and offers of divers blandishments, up to & including chocolate (!), o s-d b.

CD Album
Spirit - The Original Potato Land (2011)
quicksilver: many thanks for the images; it's one of the more effective, very simple - and cheap! - new label designs i've so far seen on cds. both i and the tablettything were running out of puff, when i reached detailing the bonus cd's tracks, and we both lose a lot of the data entered if we collapse (or switch off) rather than turn off comms & visuals, but keep the o.s. running...

(and the confirmation there's more that might yet resurface, or come to light for a first time...)

CD Album
T. Rex - Electric Warrior (2012)
philmh: is there any chance of a "post-universalisation" guide to ascribing labels to cds?

(universal music & entertainment aren't the only offenders by any means, but the re-use of older labels' logos, designs etc. can be really confusing - and the abandoning of label-specific, and especially alphabetical, cat# prefixes by the megaconglommerates means there can be very little to go by, for folk as'd like to get it right - and incidentally create a minimum of mess for mods to have to clear up.)

CD Album
David Britton, Michael Butterworth - Savoy Digital Angst (1992)
dave britton is a dinosaur, one of the very last of the traditional purveyors of porn, westerns, sf, fantasy, horror and romance novels (and comics) that were once the alternative to respectawiggle bookshops selling real books - i.e. hardcovers (that might very possibly include, ah, ''gentlemen's special interests" - so long as properly bound - and too expensive for one's servants/the plebs) and later, somewhat grudgingly, penguins, pelicans & perhaps puffins (with the occasional peacock), plus dover and methuen paperbacks.
he is also, in his own - arguably twisted, or at least twisty - way a champion of and for individual rights against encroachment by corrupt and/or religiously-delusional policemen of all ranks, and other similarly-inclined tentacles of the state.
and he has conducted a one-person campaign to remember and relaunch the music of p.j. proby for at least three-to-four decades.
michael butterworth wrote the time of the hawklords trilogy that may be familiar to fans, friends and followers of hawkwind and its spin-offs (see pete? tobler's rock family trees), and is/was a musician involved in the jazz-rock band, james colvin (michael moorcock) and the deep fix.
either, neither or both may be found at england's glory, or whatever the shop's currently named, on st. petersgate (iirc) or at the *key lock & safe company, on deansgate (iirc); or at savoy's home address, and prevailed upon to sign copies of cds, lps and/or cassettes, or books & comics with the production of which they've been associated.
