What would you say is the purpose or goal of the 'magazine world'? It's definitely colourful and artsy and all that. But it appears to be covers only. Is it a marketplace? I'll throw a few on, sure. But ....what's it all about, Alfie?
It's a bit tangential to the other worlds, but has its own niche. I'm no fan of the TV guides and so on, but for recording and indexing specialist magazines - and music mags, eg Beatles Monthly, it's good.
Attempting to catelogue my collection and wants of some specialist stuff(mostly transport related, computing or trade only magazines). Its more unwieldy to input information compared to other worlds, inclusion of what is important/neccessary subjective, but if its the only realistic summary on the net of the ephemeral TV guides its no bad thing. Only got 4 crisp boxes full of magazines to scan and input, (excluding the 5lm x 8 bookshelves that are groaning with some 60years worth of stuff to input).
It would be nice if publishers used the site to update their wares, not as a selling site (there are a couple of magazine vendor sites- maybe I should link to them here), but as informational on up-coming releases and so on.
I would like to see Publisher as field choice (though titles change publisher over the years)

It's the one World I have nothing to do with, partly because of a lack of interest anyway, but also because I see it as way off-beam in comparison with everything else we do here. If it had been confined to music magazines I could understand it, but it's just too broad and vague a concept as it stands.

I guess we could have Alternative Publisher, as we do with labels.
My priorities for contributions lie elsewhere at the moment, but I remain uncertain as to what qualifies as a Magazine. For example, there are thousands of publications by pension funds, charities and others, and what of all those "Local Magazines" that are pushed through the door in every district of our cities to serve as a local advertising vehicle?
The exclusion of comics also raises uncertainty as to what constitutes a comic.
Noted I think that some of the wife's collection of Blue Jeans comic have a fair proportion of 70s and 80s pop stars in them. 'Billboard' I think is commonly refered to as magazine, yet its UK equivalents 'The Stage'/ 'World's Fair'/ 'Music Week' are newspapers.
i agree that i can't see a link with the other worlds, i would have found a world for memorabilia items such as tour programmes, promotional posters/displays, badges and all those odd formats that don't quite fit the other sections (eg USB album) far more useful than a list of old tv guides

I do kinda wish it had just been music magazines.

I sure with I'd known how unpopular my TV Guides were when I started uploading them. It would have saved me a whole lot of trouble.

Personally that's not what I meant. We have Magazine World now and on that note it's great to see the TV guides and other stuff. I've added a few myself.
I merely meant that I think it would have been more logical to limit it to music magazines - but that's not what happened, so we do now need the lot - including TV guides!

No big deal. I just felt like my poor little TV Guides were being unfairly singled out.
I do understand the main gist of the complaint though. Except for the Elvis cover, or the Johnny Cash or Glen Campbell cover, they are for the most part not music related, and therefor not related to the other parts of 45worlds.
Still, over time, when there are many more additions and many more viewers to the Magazines site, I think it could be a good reference for people to look for specific magazines that they would maybe want to acquire from other sources.
Say you're a Johnny Cash completest. You already have all his 45s, LPs, and CD's. You could come here and type in his name in the search engine, find his TV Guide cover, and have something to search eBay for.
Same if you're a "Love Boat" collector, a "Six Million Dollar Man" collector or a "Doctor Who" collector.
I think the site, although not all that related to the other 45worlds sites, serves a very good purpose.
Sorry I singled out the TV guides - no offence meant. It's just my personal thoughts, not to say they are unpopular with other contributors. Magazine world is its own, erm, world - folk like me who scan CD inserts are perhaps less into that side of things, and equally I wouldn't be surprised if the guys with all the bus magazines don't have any interest in Top of the Pops LPs. Each to his own, and fair play to you for all the work you've put in.

Music Memorabilia world is coming fairly soon as it happens.
I'm actually keen that we try a couple of worlds which aren't very music related. Music is my main love but I do collect and waste my sparetime with some other stuff too.
At some stage there may be so many different world that you can switch on and off the ones you are interested/uninterested in and it should also be pretty easy to just see Music Magazines using the filter.
My aim - to add all my collections on 45worlds. Member since May 2009 4552 Points Moderator

Wow. I retire in four years and this will keep me occupied even more. I have a programme from every concert I have been to so hopefully these will be able to be included?

A good non music related collectors world idea may be computer games, some old Nintendo cartridges can get three figure sums on eBay. Also Like with records there are variants in colours of Boxes cartridge or disc. And also limited edition consoles, controllers etc.
Just a thought to get towards the 45 world mark.
Ps no offence meant to any magazine world members I'm just not interested as amny of you probably arent with my record uploads.

To be honest the few collected Radio Times that I have found recently (Christmas Bumper Issues and 1966 World Cup Edition) are , literally, a world away from TV Choice (mum's magazine of choice- she likes the crossword), and TV Quick, etc , but the reflection of those audiences needs to be reflected in the completist sites, though if it is a little too annoying to see bulk three months worths uploaded on the recently added , I have no objection if 'TV Guides' were omitted, but as said , many do feature music related stuff ( TV Choice XFactor/ BGT for example ). The problem with magazines is mining the depth of their content, as the more simple summaries of 45s and 78s dont really apply to items with regular features ( that change content anyway), and other content)
