A list HERE

Sight + Sound and the BFI compile this list every 10 years.

The 2022 list has provided a bit of controvery and debate as they opened up the voting a little and also encouraged people to vote for more contemporary films rather than thinking of 'The Classics'

No Spinal Tap or Gregory's Girl and Battleship Potemkin is still hanging on in there at number 56 so it feels like there are still some films there to be respected rather than enjoyed, but what do I know I've not even seen half of them!

46/100

(Note to self: Stop watching Caddyshack and watch a Kurosawa instead)

I've seen 23/100. Think I'll try and get those numbers up.

One more at a measly 24/100 - agreed, watch more foreign films!

Sadly, my favourite film, The Wizard Of Oz, is not there but a lot of my faves are! :sideways:

I've seen and enjoyed a few (very few!) of the films here. Only ONE of my Top 10 films is included (The Godfather) and even then I prefer the chronological version with all those cut scenes where they should be. No Ordinary People, On Golden Pond, American Graffiti, Fantasia, mumble, moan...

It sounds kind of amazing. One of my friends watched it after the list came out and said 'I don't know why watching someone in a film prepare dinner in real time is more interesting than watching my flatmate prepare dinner, but somehow it is'

….. I have seen 36 out of the hundred listed, and I think Stanley Kubrick has around three entries…..I did not check.

I've seen or own about a third of those here... I wonder if the destructive present day of Putin's regime in Russia has served to keep a classic like Dr. Zhivago out of this list. Still one of my all time favorites...

Doctor Zhivago

I have watched 25/100. Surprised that Lawrence of Arabia failed to make list, as well as two of my favorites, Being There and Spinal Tap.
