The Coronation of Charles and Camilla last week was a magnificent spectacle for United Kingdom and many other countries. Anyone who looks on YouTube for Classical 78s may have seen this recording pop up as a 'suggestion':
From that video there is a link to the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth page, with the story of the recording of the full Service and King's speech, to be released within a few days as a set of 15 records.
These would not have been affordable for most record buyers so there will be few of the records available for collectors. It would be nice to see these be added, probably from museum collections.
Incidentally, there seems to be a Decca Classics recording "The Official Album of The Coronation: The Complete Recording", recorded a day before at the rehearsal for the ceremony in May 2023, released for download on the day of the coronation.
I'm sure there is probably a similar release for Queen Elizabeth. We're sort of post-physical media for a lot of people now so I wouldn't expect one for Charles. But I still have the LP BBC Records put out in 1981 for the wedding of Charles and Diana and I think they did a CD of William and Kate's service. So the idea is still around.
Since this is a 78 forum it'd be interesting to find out if any sort of audio release occurred for George V's coronation? It was pre-sound film but there were cylinders and early-gen 78s.
