My favorite episode? Hands down, A Piece Of The Action... Where Captain Kirk and Spock, dressed in 30s era suits and fedoras, get behind the wheel of a 1932 Cadillac V-12 cabriolet, and Kirk grinds the gears.. Spock erroneously calls it a "flivver", which usually refers to a Model T Ford. Shatner himself would have known better, as he drove a 4 speed 65 Corvette Stingray around this time. "Captain.. as a Starfleet officer, you are most proficient.. but as a taxi driver, you leave much to be desired. "
When it was made a company who made sliding doors wanted to know how the doors opened so quick. They had to tell them that it was two men pushing them!
Doctor McCoy operated with salt pots!
Warp One by the way is the speed of light. Warp Eight 512 times the speed of light.
Watching this as a kid in the 1960s was mind-blowing, hand-held communicators, doors that automatically slide open, stuff that we take for granted these days. When they re-launched the series they said things would be even better but as soon as the captain talked to the computer and a dalek-like voice responded I knew progress had not been made.
I'm still not 100% sure when they switched to blue lettering on the title screen (final season? remastered?) but the first season most definitely used yellow letters so I've uploaded a replacement title screen and asked the mods for a swap.
