Captain Beefheart And The Magic Band - Clear Spot (1972)
Review
Probably the most perfectly realised Captain Beefheart LP, and the one that is the most accessible. Definitely the starting point that I recommend for anyone interested in discovering the great man.
The LP pretty much covers his wide range of styles incorporating elements of blues, rock, ballad, and of course his signature Beefheartian style. Every track is a winner and the LP includes the fabulous Big-Eyed Beans From Venus which is just about everyone's favourite song, and the difficult Golden Birdies which will help you decide if you really do want to venture onto Trout Mask Replica.

Magazine - Secondhand Daylight (1979)
Pressing fault on most of the early UK pressings. It is hardly noticeable coming right at the end of song 'Cut-Out Shapes' when he repeats the earlier lyric "I just get numb when you're hard to find", it instead comes out as "I just get numb wh_find".
My faulty pressing has matrix V2121 $ A 1, (where the $ is actually a B overwritten with A and then scribbled out).

The Motors - Approved By The Motors (1978)
Note that on the coloured vinyl pressing the labels utilise a slightly different blue and the ladies are flesh coloured.
Seems there were all sorts of old label designs being used up on pressings around 1978 before Virgin standardised with green & red.

Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! (1978)
Nice to see the LP sleeve with the spot sticker indicating its on coloured vinyl.
SPOTS 006 presumably to identify the sticker, rather like the spot sticker on the Sex Pistols LP (SPOTS 001), and SPOTS 007 for the first PiL LP.

Seventh Wave - Things To Come (1974)
Band members used to be in the prog rock group Second Hand, and this LP has prog & classical elements. Quite OK, though doesn't reach the freakout heights of Second Hand.

The LP that they did after this one is very different, including funky bits.

The Kinks - The Kink Kontroversy (1965)
This record is "Simulated stereo, export only" - as noted in the booklet that is supplied with the BMG 2011 Deluxe 2CD Edition.
I bought my copy second-hand, in the UK, I can't say I have seen many copies.

Fröhliche Eiszeit - Fröhliche Eiszeit (2004)
Finally got my hands on a copy of this LP, though the Discogs seller was wildly optimistic at giving a 'near mint / very good+' grading, being that the vinyl was dirty and has lots of light scratches, while the sleeve has added sellotape and glue to hold it together!

here is a selection of tracks for your enjoyment..

Fröhliche Eiszeit - Im Luftschutzkeller, Im Büro, In Der Fabrik Und Zu Hause. (2013)
Fröhliche Eiszeit existed from late 1979 to 1983, and released their recordings on cassette, of which only a tiny quantity seem to exist, they also contributed to at least one rare compilation during that period.

This is a compilation of tracks recorded in various locations, as per the LP title. The quality of the recordings varies from good to rough, some seem to be dubbed off vinyl and other n-generation sources.

The credits appear to be of a not very helpful list, ie 'these people played instruments... these people sang... these people wrote the lyrics...".

I guess we are lucky to finally have these recordings on vinyl, even though only 300 copies were pressed.

Note that there is an earlier compilation LP of different songs, though again only 300 copies were pressed.

Weltklang - Rückwärts (2021)
I am unsure about the number of copies produced but it will be in the low numbers, maybe 100.
The music on this release is more techno influenced.

The Kinks - Kinda Kinks (1965)
In contrast to the earlier comment I would say this has more than enough enjoyable tracks to push it up the ratings. A particular favourite is Come On Now which has a nice catchy guitar hook, I don't know if it is original but USA garage bands such as the 13th Floor Elevators seem to have freely borrowed it.

Re: Focus B, ...Finally got to see your comment and have added pics of the stereo label. Note the back cover has a sticker over the mono cat number (and unfortunately the name of a previous owner).
Mods: maybe hide the pics as they were quickly taken using my phone and are of rough quality

Edit... Oh dear I have just seen that there is a separate entry for the stereo pressing, though missing a full set of pics.

Kitchen And The Plastic Spoons - Screams To God (2013)
Punk & post punk collectors need this LP, and with prices for original pressings hitting £140 it was sorely in need of a re-pressing.
I did not buy this LP first time around since I already owned the band's 2007 compilation CD "Best Off" (which includes additional live tracks), but decided to get a copy this time around.
Get it while you have the chance.

Note that this LP gives the band name as "Kitchen + The Plastic Spoons", the band's Bandcamp page lists them as "Kitchen And The Plastic Spoons", listen and buy the LP there.

Mandrake Paddle Steamer - Pandemonium Shadow Show (2018)
There have been a couple of rough bootleg LPs but this is official and is probably the best of the material that was recorded but never released.
What a great LP (also released on CD and download via bandcamp), its as good as what you could ever have wished for and well worth tracking down.

Marc Bolan And John's Children - Beyond The Rising Sun (1984)
My copy also includes the undubbed track 'Rings Of Fortune' coming straight after 'Beyond The Rising Sun', though without groove separation.
The labels on my copy (as with the track listing above) are mismatched with the track listing on the sleeve.
12 of the 25 tracks are over-dubbed to make them sound more like glam T.Rex

The source for this pressing is rumoured to have been a dub off an original Brunswick LP.

The Who - My Generation (2015)
Excellent release, I already have the Virgin pressing from the late 1970s but when HMV were selling this at £7.99 it was an offer too good to resist.
There have been huge discussions/arguments about the merits of various reissues since 2002 when Shel Talmy's tapes came back into use. The biggest problem being that some of the tracks were missing overdubs which were heard on the original vinyl pressings.
For the UK Brunswick pressing there are additional guitar overdubs on A Legal Matter and My Generation, and additional vocal overdubs on La-La-La-Lies, Much Too Much, The Good's Gone and The Kids Are Alright. The Virgin pressing is rumoured to have been sourced by taking a dub off an original Brunswick LP, so I decided to do some analysis using Audacity.
Happily I can report that to my ears the songs sound pretty much the same as on the Virgin pressing (and hence Brunswick). This was easy to compare - since the songs on both source LPs are mono I just needed to convert the captured 2-channel audio into 1-channel, and play both sources simultaneously into separate L-R earphones. The Virgin pressing is quite loud and just a little bass heavy but from what I could hear all of the dubs seem to be present on this new pressing. The only minor difference is that sometimes the volume changes very slightly in the mix on some of tracks, but I would assume that the engineers have better equipment than in 1965 and are balancing correctly. The only radical volume fluctuation was on the last 30 seconds of The Kids Are Alright, and some hesitant tweaking on Out In The Street.
You will not notice any of these slight variances when playing the LP on your Hi-Fi system, and what you will hear is how the LP originally sounded in crisp and powerful mono.
Recommended.

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables (1980)
According to discogs the first pressing of the LP was cut with the master tape running too fast and so it needed to be re-cut. Identifiers (Utopia/Lyntone) are:
A-Side "LYN 8664-1UT BRED-10-A", "MAX", "IS LIFE AS BORING AS YOU ARE?? Ʊ"
B-Side "LYN 8665-1UT BRED-10-B", "MAX", "DO YOU DESERVE TO LIVE?? Ʊ"

Well I just had to investigate since it happens that I have a copy of the first pressing, and also a copy of another early pressing. I recorded both sides of both pressings and used Audacity to analyse the results. And it is true! the first pressing runs about 1% faster and sounds brighter because of it, and also it is cut slightly louder than the re-cut version.

I have to say that I prefer the faster first pressing, but since I have owned it for over 40 years then I suppose I am biased to like it, being that the tunes are pretty much lodged in my brain.

The other LP version that I have was bought secondhand a couple of years ago as part of a joblot and I did recognised that it sounded different but couldn't quite figure why at the time.

Regardless of the differences in the speed/pitch, both vinyl versions sound a lot better than the 25th anniversary CD that I bought - the CD version sounds like there is a blanket draped over the speakers! And I only bought the CD because it included a DVD of interviews and rare early live footage.

Supposedly a limited pressing, though I cannot see any indication of it. The record does have all the signs of being a bootleg: the pressing plant identifiers have been scratched out, nothing to genuinely indicate clearance of copyright, and the tracks themselves have different volumes and some sound like they are dubbed off vinyl.
What caught my eye was that this is a good selection of rare tracks many of which have not appeared on compilation before, and also hard to find even on youtube.

The Kitchen And The Plastic Spoons track is relatively well known having been issued on CD and later on vinyl (which is the obvious source that the compilers used).

The photocopy on the back cover has some text "exil-system 20-19", I cannot determine if that indicates a release date or a supposed cat number. There are other versions of this LP, a few were cut on lathe and have a different cat number.
Super limited as per usual from the artist.
